Police Department Muscle Car Show to Benefit Special Olympics

The Buffalo Grove and Kildeer police departments, along with the Lake County Sheriff's Department, will sponsor a charity car show July 28 in Long Grove.

American muscle cars will be on display this weekend at the Buffalo Grove Police Department’s second annual Cigars and Cars event to benefit the Illinois Special Olympics.

The car show will run from noon to 4 p.m. July 28 at Neumann’s Cigars & More, 445 Robert Parker Coffin Road, Long Grove.

This year’s event is being co-sponsored by the Kildeer Police Department, which is now under the leadership of former Buffalo Grove Police Chief Steve Balinski.

“We are asking the public to showcase their car or stop by and support the Special Olympics,” Balinski said. He said he hopes 25-50 cars will be displayed in all. The show will include law enforcement specialty vehicles, he said.

The event, which is also supported by the Lake County Sheriff’s Department, will include a silent auction and raffles to benefit the Special Olympics.
