Slots at Arlington Park?

Arlington Heights residents and business leaders are invited to a community forum to discuss the impact that slots at Arlington Park would have on the community and its downtown district.

Proposed legislation (SB 3146) would bring 1,200 slots to Arlington Park with or without the community's approval. The state has taken a different approach to other video poker legislation:  communities – including Arlington Heights – have had the opportunity to opting out of housing the gambling machines. Illinois legislators are expected to take a final vote on the measure in the upcoming veto session.

Speakers will present issues related to Home Rule Authority, a casino's impact on a downtown district and gambling's impact on families at the forum, which is free and open to the public.
