Starzec to Play Volleyball for the Titans

BGHS grad Michael Starzec will play volleyball at the University of Wisconsin at Oshkosh.

Michael Starzec will play on the men's volleyball team at University of Wisconsin at Oshkosh, the school announced.

Starzec, who played for , which was named first team all-conference in the Mid-Suburban League. A three-time varsity letter winner for the Bison, Starzec was the team captain this season.

The 6-foot-7 middle blocker was a member of the Buffalo Grove High School National Honor Society, National Technical Society and was recently named the Business Student of the Year. He was an eight-time semester honor roll recipient and plans on studying accounting at UW-Oshkosh. He is the son of Mike and April Starzec.

“I choose UW-Oshkosh because of their commitment to putting a championship caliber team on the court year after year,” Starzec said.

“After an outstanding 2012 season we are looking forward to relying on young talent to lead us in 2013 after losing five key seniors,” said head coach Brian Schaefer, who described Starzec's potential on the court as “immeasurable."

"I can’t wait to see what all the incoming freshmen will bring to our program,” he said.

UW-Oshkosh captured its sixth national title in April with the Titans’ second team (Division II) won the NCVF Division III national title. The Titans’ first team (Division I) took third place at the NCVF Division I national championship.
