Why are you running?

In the next four years, I want to see the district continue to focus on the children and the rapid technological advances the world is making. I want to make sure that the children are prepared with the skills needed to be successful in high school, college, and eventually the work force. I also want to see a school environment where the children feel challenged, where teachers feel comfortable taking risks, and where everyone feels safe. I want to be a part of the school board for these reasons, but most importantly, I have three children in the district. They are my passion in life. There is something so cool about walking into Tripp Elementary school knowing that I have three kids in the building. I have chosen to get more involved in the process for my children as well as your kids. I also have a strong background in education. I have two masters and I taught fourth grade for 6 years. I coach baseball and soccer in Buffalo Grove. I do this because I love working with the other families in the community. I believe strongly that with my education background, I can be a major asset to the children and the community of our district. The success and positive educational experience of all the kids in the district is extremely important to me.

In what ways would the school district benefit from your service?

The school district would benefit from my service because of my strong background in education. I was a fourth grade teacher in Glenview for 6 years. I have a masters degree in Education as well as a masters in Education Leadership. I bring a great deal of knowledge about education to the district.

What is the biggest challenge the school district faces and what should be done to address it?

Meeting the needs of all students is a great challenge for the district. Each grade has a wide range of student ability and learning styles. I think meeting all of the students needs is extremely important and a challenge that should be at the forefront of the district’s planning.

What do you think the district does well?

The district is very strong financially and looks to be in great shape to focus on the children’s needs in the coming years.

What should be some of the school district’s priorities over the next four years?

I think the district needs to continue to foster a learning environment that is safe, challenges all students to be their very best, and continues to meet the high standards that Illinois has for our children.

What else would you like voters to know?

I just want to reiterate that my background in education cannot be over stated. I am a parent that cares and wants the best for my kids and yours. I want to ensure that district 102 is the very best school system for the future of our children. I want kids to be excited for school and the challenges they face each and every day. I want our children to feel safe in a system that is preparing them for the next stages of their lives. The education of our children requires the teamwork of parents, the staff, the administration, and the board to follow through on the vision that was created. I think that the plan is there, and that we have a great district and I look forward to positively providing my insight and value to the position.
