First-Grade Chefs Offer Turkey Tips

Kildeer Countryside first-grade teacher Jo Fryer's students share their Thanksgiving recipes.

 

First you have a turkey that you can’t eat because it is still not cooked. You put it in a pan. Put some spikey things on it and make it spicy if you want. My family likes spicy but not me. Then you put it in the oven and cook it 20 hours at about 96 degrees. You pull it out and put some salad in the pan around the turkey. You can put some tomatoes if you want. Eat it! Serve it with Chinese food that has meat and dumplings. My favorite! There would be no dessert. My Mom and Dad don’t serve dessert, but I would like to serve vanilla ice cream with chocolate on the top and a cherry, too! That would be my favorite! Say, “Happy Thanksgiving, Everyone!” — Grace Z.

First, I just know now to make pizza. You need sauce, sugar, dough and a little broom to spread the sauce. Then put on the cheese and put it in the oven for 60 or 70 minutes. The oven should be 70 degrees. Then eat the pizza. The dessert would be pancakes.

Heat up the turkey in the microwave for 9 minutes. Put pepper on it. Be sure it’s the right degrees. Put it on a plate and serve it to everyone. Serve it with mashed potatoes, salad, and cut-up carrots and cut-up apples. My Mom makes those little pretzels like little squares to serve with the meal. The dessert would be my Mom’s apple pie with vanilla ice cream. Say prayers with all the people at the table. — Carly W.

First put batter all over the turkey. Then bake it for 20 minutes at 100 degrees. After that wait for 20 minutes and then here comes a very good turkey! Serve fruit and corn and celery, broccoli, and carrots. Drink water and milk. For dessert, you get a really nice big vanilla shortcake! Say, “Cheers!” to all the people! — Isabelle C.

First you buy the turkey at a restaurant. Put some water on it. That will make it taste better. Then put it in the oven for 10 or 20 seconds at a kinda hot temperature. Take it our and cut it. Serve it out. Serve it with a plate with food on the side, like a cherry and some pineapple. Then we get to enjoy the meal. Eat ice cream and cake and pie for dessert. Say, “Enjoy the meal!” — Kendall C.

Put mac and cheese in the turkey but if you want something yummier put in chicken nuggets. Put some apples in the turkey to be healthy. Put the chicken in the oven for 20 minutes at the right temperature for a turkey. Put it on a very big table and my whole family will eat it and watch a movie. My cat will sniff it and we will give it a piece if he likes it. Serve ice cream and tomatoes with salt on them and some pickles. The kids will drink milkshakes with the dinner. Eat a strawberry and blueberry cake for dessert. Say, “You are welcomed,” after the people say, “Thank you.” — Alexa C.

Get a gun, shoot a turkey and put it in the store and somebody will buy it for Thanksgiving. Get the turkey from the store. Keep the bones in it especially the two bones for good wishes. Sprinkle some pepper on the turkey. Cook it in the oven for a long time … about 2 hours at 60 degrees. When it comes out, put it on the table and people will grab their forks and pull it out. Serve meat, broccoli, grapes, salad, bread and corn. Serve the dessert which would be cherry pie and chocolate pie or cream pie. Drink root beer. After dinner there is a bonfire outside. My family says “Happy Thanksgiving” to each other. Bring toys to play and bring a baseball. — John T.

First you have to get the pan out. Then you get the salt. You have to go to the grocery store and get the turkey. Then you put it on the pan. Stuff it with stuffing. Put it in the oven 3 minutes at about 60 degrees. Take it out and eat it. Have mashed potatoes, green beans, carrots, and grapes. Drink apple juice and water. Find a turkey. Then scrape the skin off. Put stuffing inside of the turkey. Put a little bit of spices on the turkey. Then it goes in the oven for about 15 minutes at a little bit of 50 degrees. Then eat it with some pretzels, fruit, vegetables and peaches. Drink water. Eat chocolate ice cream with whipped cream, sprinkles, and gummy bears. Say, “Happy Thanksgiving and have a GREAT day!” — Lili S.

First get a turkey at the Thanksgiving store. Add the ingredients of sugar, milk, and eggs. Bake it for about 4 hours at 100 degrees. Eat the turkey with turkey sauce and NO vegetables, only bananas with it. Drink juice. For the dessert there would be a bakery cake and vanilla pie. Say to the people, “Happy Holiday!” — Samuel K.

First go to the Fresh Foods store and buy a turkey. Then go home and put some sugar on it. Put it in the oven for about 5 minutes at a warm temperature. Take it out and cut it in pieces. If it’s too hot, put a little ice on it. Eat it with vegetables. Then eat some dessert of chocolate cake. Drink water and milk. Say to everyone, “Have a good Thanksgiving meal!” — Angelika K.

Go to the market store and get some turkey. Then get some beef, fish, and vegetables. Take the turkey and put it in a pot. Then go to the oven and just flip it over in the pot. Sprinkle some salt over the turkey. Cook it at 10 degrees at medium temperature. Then when it is ready we will sit in our seats and get ready to eat. Serve carrots and salad and beef and fish. Drink pink lemonade. Have vanilla and chocolate ice cream with sprinkles and cream on it. Eat cookies, too. We would say, “Happy Thanksgiving” to everyone! — James L.

Well, it’s actually not an appropriate word, but you have to kill the turkey. It’s sad for the turkey, but he’s juicy to eat. Cook it first then suck up the juice and  take out the bones. Then cut it in half and eat it. Serve bread, corn, and you do need a drink, which would be water. People would eat vanilla, chocolate, and banana smoothies and ice cream and sundaes. Say “Cheese” and “Have a good holiday!" — Alex P.

First take a weapon and shoot a turkey. Put it in the oven. I never cooked a turkey before. Take a plate and put a bunch of vegetables on it. Get one clean, empty bucket to put the bones in. After you eat the turkey, drink coffee. Eat chocolate ice cream for dessert because that’s my favorite! Say thank you to God for giving us this yummy food. — Simon S.

First put the turkey in the oven and put in the thermometer. Cook it about 12 minutes at 70 degrees. Then take the turkey out. Start eating! Serve some corn, salad, broccoli, apples, and nectarines. You need chicken and you need to grill it at 80 degrees until it’s brown. Then put some chips around it. Serve fruit like apples and bananas and some vegetables like carrots and broccoli. Tell everyone, “Happy Thanksgiving!” Get out the dessert of vanilla ice cream with sprinkles on it and frosting and chocolate covered syrup. That’s it! Say, “Good job for eating! Happy Thanksgiving!” — Steven N.

First go to the grocery store and buy a turkey. Open the bag and stuff the turkey with mashed potatoes. Put it in the oven to bake for about, hmm, maybe 80 minutes at 62 degrees. Put it on the plates and serve it with broccoli and corn. Get the ranch dressing for the broccoli. Serve the fruit salad with fruits … bananas, strawberries, grapes, and pineapple. Drink water and Sprite and juice. For the dessert there would be vanilla cake and popcorn. Say thank you to all the people for coming. — Marissa L.

Get the turkey from a farm. Put some sprinkles on it. Then put some sugar on it, then salt, then cheese, and sauce. Now it’s ready to go in the oven for 20 minutes at 8 degrees.  We would let it cool off for 10 minutes. Put some more sauce on it. Time to eat! Serve salad, oranges, celery, carrots and bowl of sauce if you need more sauce. Drink water. Dessert would be vanilla and chocolate cake with ice cream and sprinkles and shell syrup. Say to the people at dinner, “Thank you for this nice dinner. I had a wonderful time!” and then say, “I love you!” — Mackenzie M.

Get the meat at a food shop. Get salt and put it on the turkey. Stuff the turkey with chicken. Roast it for Thanksgiving at #3 temperature for about 20 minutes. Put it on a plate and get the table set. Get dressed and invite the people to come to the table. Serve some drinks and snacks. Serve the turkey with apples, salad and French fries. I would get the dessert when the meal is finished. It would be chocolate cookies with the chocolate cake … the ganache cake. Have chocolate and vanilla ice cream, too. Say, “Good Bye!
