Cooper, London Jazz Bands Earn Honors

Students from School District 21 competed at the Northshore Jazz Festival on Jan. 21. , Holmes Middle School, and all participated. The groups competed against numerous schools from around the Chicago area and did an outstanding job representing Wheeling School District 21.

Cooper Middle School Jazz Band I placed 1st in the jazz band one division for the fifth year in a row and Holmes Middle School Jazz Band I placed 4th in the jazz band one division.

In the second jazz band division, Holmes Middle School Jazz Band II placed 1st, London Middle School Jazz Band II placed 2nd, and Cooper Middle School Jazz Band II placed 3rd.

Cooper Middle School alto saxophone student Emily Valentin won the outstanding solo award for the junior high division.
