BGHS Music Students Selected for Musical Festivals

Musicians will perform in the District VII Illinois Music Educators Association's 2011 festivals.

musicians have been chosen to participate in the 2011 Illinois Music Educators Association (IMEA) District VII Music Festivals on Nov. 12 and 19. Selection is based on judged auditions of top high school musicians from across northeastern Illinois and recognizes outstanding musicianship.

Performing in senior band are juniors Joe Gruzinsky (tuba) and Megan Rullo (Bb clarinet); and sophomore Peter Kotecki (Bb clarinet).

In senior orchestra are seniors Simon Campos (percussion) and Ryan Toher (Bb clarinet); and junior Michael Maley (double bass).

The Senior Jazz Band honoree is senior Matthew Doran (piano).

Performing in the District VII vocal jazz ensemble are seniors Mackenzie Logan (bass) and Brandon Sokol (bass); juniors Erin Logan (soprano) and Alec Sabbath (tenor); sophomore Brian McCallister (tenor); and freshman Jessie Brooks (alto).

Senior Brandon Sokol (bass II) is also in senior chorus.

The musicians will showcase their talents alongside other outstanding students under the direction of top music educators.

The IMEA senior band, orchestra and choir will perform Nov. 12 at New Trier High School and the IMEA District VII Junior/Senior Jazz and Vocal Ensembles will perform Nov. 19 at Evanston High School.
