Town Hall Meeting To Address ComEd Concerns

The public is invited to share input at the Aug. 30 meeting.

In response to the recent spike in power outages in Northeast Illinois, state Rep. Carol Sente (D-Vernon Hills) will host a town hall meeting with ComEd from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Aug. 30 at the to give residents an opportunity to hear directly from the utility provider and ask questions pertaining to the outages.

“As we are all aware, our area has seen a higher than normal number of power outages this summer,” Sente said in a statement. “I have spoken with many local residents about this problem and understand that this is unacceptable. In response to this, I have met with officials from ComEd to discuss these problems and to work on finding solutions. After discussing the power outages with two of ComEd’s regional directors, they explained to me that the unusual nature of this summer's storms led to such extreme power outages. I explained to the ComEd representatives that many of the complaints I have heard revolve around ComEd's poor communication during the outages. Specifically, customers were often given inaccurate estimates for when power would be restored. I feel that this lack of communication was unacceptable and must be improved upon.”

“I have expressed to ComEd that I would like to work with them as well as my fellow legislators, local officials and my constituents to find reasonable, attainable solutions to these problems,” she said. “I will continue to work to find a solution to our power outage problems while standing up for consumers."
