Cook County Taxpayers Invited to Property Tax Appeal Seminar

The free event is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. Aug. 22 in Rolling Meadows.

Cook County homeowners are invited to attend a property tax appeal seminar geared toward taxpayers seeking to appeal their 2012 property tax assessments.

The seminar, scheduled for 6:30 p.m. Aug. 22 at Holiday Inn—Algonquin Room, 3405 Algonquin Road, Rolling Meadows, is co-sponsored by Palatine Township Assessor Terry Kelly, Cook County Commissioner Gregg Goslin, State Senator Matt Murphy and State Representative Tom Morrison. The hourlong session will educate taxpayers on how to file a successful tax appeal in a time when the economy is putting added pressures to home and business owners.

The seminar will include a presentation by Cook County Board of Review Commissioner Dan Patlak explaining how property taxes are calculated and the appeal procedure of the Board of Review. Before the end of the evening, taxpayers will have an opportunity to work with staff from the Board of Review to address their specific questions and concerns.
