Video: Two BG Police Employees Receive Recognition

Buffalo Grove police officer Frank Horbus was honored March 5 as Employee of the Year.

The honor is presented annually by the , which provides two $250 donations in the recipient’s name — one the Rotary International Foundation, and the other to a charity of the winner’s choice. Horbus has earmarked his award for the Special Olympics.

Horbus, who has served Buffalo Grove for 12 years, is a member of the department's traffic unit. He was recognized for his work ethic, initiative and productivity. He has organized and facilitated training for both his co-workers and himself.

The Buffalo Grove Police Department also gave its 2011 special commendation to Effie Harris in recognition of her assistance with computer technology.
