Police Blotter: Stabbing, Thefts, Cocaine

These were among the reports released May 2 by the Buffalo Grove Police Department.

ALCOHOL

Allison E. Hill, 37, of the 500 block of Spruce Drive, Palatine, was charged with driving under the influence, speeding, disobeying a pedestrian control signal and failure to notify the Secretary of State of an address change at 12:55 a.m. April 29 on westbound Dundee Road east of Buffalo Grove Road.

BATTERY

Versailles Banquets, 100 N. McHenry Road, at 1:25 a.m. April, the three men were jumped by unknown male subjects. The complainant could only provide a vague description of the subject who left in a silver Mercedes SUV. The husband and the acquaintance were stabbed in the abdomen and back and the brother was struck in the face. The victims were transported to the hospital. Investigators will follow up.

A resident of the 500 block of Lyon Drive reported April 30 that her wedding ring and a number of other pieces of jewelry are missing from her home. The resident stated that she allowed a subject into her home regarding repair to her property. She described the subject as being a Hispanic male, about 5-foot-5, with a medium build, dark hair and wearing a baseball cap. A female subject had waited in a car. Investigators will follow up.

DISORIENTED PERSON

An employee at a gas station on the 1200 block of McHenry Road reported an 81-year-old disoriented woman at 4:05 p.m. April 29. The woman stated that she was from Canada and did not know she was in Buffalo Grove. A Lake County Sheriff’s deputy located the woman’s 81-year-old husband some distance away. Police determined that the two have a son in the area. The couple was transported to Northwest Community Hospital and the son was contacted and advised.

DRUGS

Julia Timchenko, 21, of the 600 block of Piper Lane, Prospect Heights, was charged with possession of cocaine, possession of a stolen vehicle, illegal lane usage, driving without insurance, not carrying a driver’s license and a bond forfeiture warrant at 12:55 a.m. May 2 on Dundee Road at Weidner Road.

FRAUD

A resident reported April 30 receiving letters stating that his application for credit was denied. The resident did not apply for the credit. The resident then received a phone call that a wallet was found with the resident’s Social Security card inside. The resident has his Social Security card in his possession. The wallet was retrieved. The U.S. Dept. of Justice and Postal Inspector have open cases and the wallet will be turned over to them.

GUN COMPLAINT

A resident reported that a neighboring youth that was shooting a bb gun in his backyard at 2:35 p.m. May 1. An officer spoke with the neighbor, who stated that his son was shooting a low-powered bb gun in at targets. The neighbor was advised that bb guns cannot be discharged in the village. The neighbor understood and stated that it will not reoccur.

OBSCENE/HARASSING PHONE CALLS

A resident reported that she answered the phone at 8:10 p.m. April 28 and when she dropped the phone the caller hung up. The subject then called again and swore and yelled at the resident. The phone number came from a cell phone in Lake Zurich, and when dialed a message states the number is temporarily out of service.

A resident reported April 29 that he has been receiving voice messages from someone who mocks the way he speaks, coughs into the phone and then calls the resident by name. The resident was given *57 instructions.

PROPERTY DAMAGE

A complainant stated that high winds blew a car door into his vehicle, causing a dent, at 10 a.m. April 30 in the Jewel parking lot, 79 N. McHenry Road.

A resident of the 400 block of Foxford Drive reported that someone removed her mailbox and post between 2 p.m. April 30 and 12:45 a.m. May 1. The resident believes this may have been done by neighboring youths, with whom she has had some problems in the past. An officer will follow up.

SUSPICIOUS INCIDENT

A resident of the 500 block of Lyon Drive reported a male subject came to her house soliciting to do work on her house at 4 p.m. April 29. When the resident told the subject no, the subject got into his red station wagon that was parked across the street with a female subject inside, and drove off. Another neighbor saw the same vehicle in the area the previous day, and described it as a four-door maroon colored station wagon, possibly a Subaru.

A resident stated that her 10-year-old daughter was riding her bike when a neighbor made inappropriate gestures toward her at 6:30 p.m. April 30. Officers went to the neighbor’s home and got no answer at the door.

A resident of the 1100 block of Courtland Drive reported seeing the outline of a person on the roof, through a skylight, at 1:10 a.m. May 1. The roof can easily be accessed from any of the balconies. An officer checked the roof and found no one up there.

THEFT

A resident reported May 1 that her card card account had been used by an unknown person in Texas and Missouri. The credit provider will follow up.

A resident reported May 1 that four unauthorized $400 withdrawals were made from her account. The withdrawals occurred in California and the resident still has her card in her possession.

A resident reported April 30 that an unauthorized $500 withdrawal was made from her account. The withdrawal was made in California, and the resident still has her card in her possession.

A resident of the 100 block of Navajo Trail reported that his son’s 20-inch gray Diamond Back BMX bike was taken between 7 p.m. April 30 and 10 a.m. May 1 from the front lawn.

Four solar-powered yard lights were stolen between 6 p.m. April 28 and 9 a.m. April 29 from a yard on the 300 block of Stillwell Drive.

A resident of the 800 block of Weidner Road reported that someone stole his 2008 Acura TL from the underground garage between 5 p.m. April 29 and 1 p.m. April 30. The resident stated that he has the keys to the car in his possession.

A resident reported that two unauthorized $502.75 withdrawals were made from her account at an ATM in Dalton, IL. The resident still has her debit card in her possession.

VANDALISM

Someone used window paint to write all over the three cars parked in a driveway on the 2000 block of Sheridan Road between 10 p.m. April 29 and 7:30 a.m. April 30. The paint came off without damage to the vehicles.
