Police Blotter: Sister Reports Brother's Drug Use

ALARM

Officers responded to an active alarm at 9:55 p.m. March 7 at a business on the 1700 block of Leider Lane and found the front doors unlocked. The building was searched and found to be in order. An official responded and secured the doors.

A resident reported at 7 a.m. March 7 that her son refused to go to school because she took away his cellphone for not completing his homework. After a conversation, the boy got on the school bus without his cellphone.

A complainant reported that as she passed a car in the  drive-through at 10:50 p.m. March 7, the other driver yelled and swore at her. The other driver stated that the complainant was going to hit his car, so he yelled. He denied swearing.

DISORDERLY CONDUCT

Norman R. Heydenburg, 47, of the 1-100 block of Columbus Parkway, Buffalo Grove, was charged with disorderly conduct at 11:30 p.m. March 7 on the 1-100 block of Columbus Parkway. 

DRUGS

A resident reported March 7 that her brother is home from college and has been smoking marijuana in the house. The resident advised her brother if he continued to do so, she would call the police. The brother was gone when officers arrived, but officers noted a strong odor of burnt cannabis in the garage and a number of burnt roaches on the floor.

FOUND ITEM  

A citizen turned in a man’s black bifold wallet that he found at a restaurant in Wheeling on March 7. The ID in the wallet showed it was from . An attempt to contact the owner failed and the wallet was placed into property at the station.

IMPROPER SECURITY 

A resident of the 200 block of Vintage Lane reported at 4:55 p.m. March 7 that a neighbor’s overhead garage door had been open all day. An officer gained entry to the house and found no one inside and everything in order. A message was left for the homeowner and the house was secured.

MISSING PERSON

A resident reported that her 10-year-old autistic son left the house at 4:45 p.m. March 7. Officers and Lincolnshire units searched the area and located the boy near one of the ponds on the golf course. The boy was returned safely home.

PHONE HARASSMENT 

A company official reported receiving rude, unprofessional and harassing phone calls from a debt collector regarding an outstanding debt of one of the brokers between Feb. 10 and March 7. An officer advised the broker to take responsibility for his debt so that the collector stops calling the company. The officer also spoke with the collector and requested that he deal directly with the broker. 

A company official reported March 6 that an employee on administrative leave, due to an arrest, was advised to contact only two particular company officials should he need to speak with someone. Instead of following directions, the employee on leave has been calling other employees excessively since Feb. 17. An officer spoke with the employee on leave and he agreed to stop the calls.

THEFT

Sandra Kolgoviene, 41, of Independence Drive, Palatine, was charged with theft at noon March 7 after a Dominick’s official saw her attempt to leave the store without paying for a bottle of liquor. 

OTHER INCIDENTS 

An office manager advised police March 7 that she received a phone call from a woman in Virginia. The woman stated that she received a scam letter with a check for $2,450 from the Buffalo Grove company. The letter instructed the woman to keep $300 and return the rest.

A complainant reported March 7 that he allows his girlfriend to drive one of his cars to and from work. The complainant said he suspects that the girlfriend also is driving the car at night under the influence of alcohol. The girlfriend has a revoked driver’s license and the car is not insured. 

A resident turned in to an officer a black zippered case containing 13 lock picks on March 7. The picks were placed into property for destruction.
