Police Blotter: Resident Charged with Robbery

ALCOHOL

Christopher Villarreal, 26, of the 2200 block of Alta Vista Drive, Waukegan, was charged with driving under the influence and driving too fast for conditions at 1:50 p.m. Sept. 27 on southbound McHenry Road north of Lake-Cook Road.

BURGLARY

An individual reported that someone entered his vehicle while it was parked on the 1-100 block of Forest Place between 11:30 p.m. Sept. 27 and 6 a.m. Sept. 28 and removed a Pioneer Champion kicker box speaker valued at $400. There were no signs of forced entry.

COMPLAINTS

A resident reported two youths walking at 11:05 a.m. Sept. 28 on the 2400 block of Palazzo Drive. An officer located the youths, who stated that they were at their friend’s house during their lunch break, and were returning to school. The officer noted no illegal activity.

A security officer at reported that while conducting traffic at 2:50 p.m. Sept. 28, a taxi drove by him and brushed against his leg. When the officer slapped the window of the taxi to get the driver’s attention, the driver got out, swore, threatened bodily harm and pushed the school official. An officer spoke with the driver, who apologized to the school official for his actions.

A resident reported receiving a phone call Sept. 28 telling her that she was the recipient of a $1,000 gift card because she is in good standing with her bank. The representative then stated that the resident would need to subscribe to a few magazines to qualify for the card. After subscribing to magazines for $29.90 a month for 60 months (totaling $1,794) the resident changed her mind and contacted her bank and the company. The company promised a refund over the next seven to 10 business days.

ROBBERY

Jeffrey Harris Jr., 34, of the 200 block of Armstrong Drive, Buffalo Grove, was charged with robbery at 10:55 a.m. Sept. 25 after a physical confrontation on the 100 block of Armstrong, where Harris allegedly took $700 from a victim. Police said the victim, who knows Armstrong, identified him after police found him at his home. Charges were approved by the state’s attorney.

SUSPICIOUS PHONE CALL

A resident received a phone call Sept. 28 from a subject who said he was from FedEx and wanted to schedule a delivery of a package for her son. When the resident began to ask questions, the caller hung up. The resident then called FedEx who told her that they had no delivery for her. An officer found that the number belongs to a telemarketing company. No one answered when called.

THEFT

A village official reported that a Canon digital camera valued at $400 went missing from the between 9 a.m. Sept. 21 and 3 p.m. Sept. 22.

A resident reported that a bank on the 1-100 block of McHenry Road took $3,000 from his account without his permission on Sept. 2. A bank official showed the resident that the transaction was made in person with his identification and signature. The resident stated that the signature was not his. The bank will follow up.

Someone removed a brown Diamond Back bicycle from a garage on the 900 block of Harvest Circle between 5 p.m. Sept. 19 and 5:30 p.m. Sept. 20 The service door was unlocked. The bike is valued at $250.
