Police Blotter: Maple Syrup Creates a Sticky Situation

ANIMALS

A small brown dog was found at 10 p.m. May 30 on the 1200 block of Deerfield Parkway and brought to the police department. The owner was advised of the dog’s location.   

COMPLAINT

A resident of the 1100 block of Gail reported a solicitor came to their door at 3 p.m. May 29 even though they have a “No Solicitor” sign posted. Officers responded and contacted the solicitor, who did not have a village permit. Officers explained the soliciting ordinance as he left the area. 

DISPUTE

A business employee on the 100 block of Dundee Road reported an argument with a customer at 6:45 p.m. May 29. Officers arrived, separated the two people and the situation was resolved.   

IDENTITY THEFT

A resident reported receiving information from the Department of Treasury May 29 that someone was using their Social Security number in Florida.   

PHONE HARASSMENT

A resident of the 0-100 block of Carlyle Lane reported receiving a telephone call between May 16-30 informing them that they owed the government money. The resident did not provide any personal information and immediately ended the call.  

PROPERTY DAMAGE

A resident of the 200 block of Navajo Trail reported that someone placed a garden hose in their window well and turned it on, causing damage to the basement’s interior sometime between midnight May 28 and 9:30 a.m. May 30.  

Someone damaged the fire alarm pull May 30 in a building on the 0-100 block of South Buffalo Grove Road. Property management was notified. 

VANDALISM

A resident of the 400 block of Chicory Drive reported that maple syrup had been poured on his vehicle’s windows, doors and residence between 8 p.m. May 28 and 7 a.m. May 29. There was no permanent damage.
