Police Blotter: Homes Burglarized, Plumbing Dispute

ALCOHOL

Saul Sanchez-Ramirez, 33, of the 10300 block of Michael Todd, Glenview, was charged with driving under the influence, improper lane usage and driving without a valid license at 1:50 a.m. Nov. 6 on Lake-Cook Road at Milwaukee Avenue.

Wilmer A. Perez, 24, of the 2400 block of Crystal Lane, Arlington Heights, was charged with aggravated driving under the influence (no driver’s license), aggravated driving under the influence (no insurance), improper lane usage, driving without insurance, driving without a valid license and illegal transportation of open alcohol at 7:35 p.m. Nov. 6 on southbound Arlington Heights Road at Nichols Road.

Tomasz J. Dawid, 18, of the 900 block of Parkview Lane, Des Plaines, was charged with possession and consumption of alcohol by a minor at 11:50 p.m. Nov. 6 on northbound Arlington Heights Road near Bernard Drive.

ANIMALS

A resident reported finding two small kittens on his front porch. One gray and one black kitten were transported to Kings Kennel.

A resident reported finding a small, male Yorkie in her yard on the 300 block of Chicory Lane. The dog had a yellow rubberband hair braid and a blue nylon collar, but no tags and no chip. The dog was taken to Kings Kennel.

BURGLARY

A resident of the 1000 block of Alden Lane reported when he returned home at 7:40 p.m. Nov. 4, he found the front door standing open. The resident found drawers and jewelry boxes open in the master bedroom. The house was searched and no one was found inside.

A resident of the 300 block of Cherrywood Road reported that when he returned home at 8:20 p.m. Nov. 4, he found the front door standing open. Jewelry was taken from the master bedroom and there were several drawers open. Two neighbors heard banging noises at around 7 p.m. but did not look to see what the noise was or call 911.

COMPLAINT

A patron at reported that she was uncomfortable because a male patron was attempting to dance with her at 1:50 a.m. Nov. 5. She told the person that she was not interested, but he continued his advances. He was escorted off the premises and officers walked the complainant and her sister to their car.

DISPUTE

A resident of Old Oak Drive reported Nov. 4 that an acquaintance had not returned a laptop computer and keys to her apartment. An officer contacted the acquaintance who stated that he would send the items to the resident when he returns from vacation.

A resident of the 700 block of Grove Drive reported Nov. 6 that his upstairs neighbor has a plumbing leak and it is running into the resident’s unit. The neighbor stated that he had a plumber out who stated that the leak is in the walls and floor between the units and the neighbor does not believe it to be his problem. The water was shut off and a village inspector was asked to follow up.

DRUGS

Following a traffic stop at 3:15 p.m. Nov. 4 at North Buffalo Grove and Brandywyn Lane, a driver consented to a search of his vehicle. An officer located a green leafy substance and two pills. All items were turned over to the police lab for identification. Charges are pending.

PHONE HARASSMENT

A resident reported receiving harassing text messages from her ex-husband on Nov. 6. The resident wanted the incident recorded for an upcoming court date. The resident was referred to the police social worker to obtain an order of protection.

PROPERTY DAMAGE

A resident of the 1000 block of Providence Lane reported that someone broke off the non-retractable antenna from her car between 5 p.m. Nov. 3 and 10 a.m. Nov. 4.

SUSPICIOUS INCIDENT

A resident of the 700 block of Lehigh Lane reported hearing what sounded like several shots fired at 2 p.m. Nov. 4 An officer spoke with a neighbor who stated that he shot off some old bottle rockets and had no more in his possession.

A resident of thee 600 block of Hickory Drive reported a man looked into the window of her house at 10:15 a.m. Nov. 5 and that the person’s car was parked on the street. An officer spoke with the registered owner of the car who stated that he was visiting a friend on the street and did not look into anyone’s window.

A resident of the 700 block of Grove Drive reported Nov. 4 that he believes his downstairs neighbor poured water on the floor at his front door. The resident stated that he thinks this is in retaliation for a plumbing leak in his apartment. An officer was unable to contact the downstairs neighbor.

A resident reported receiving a call from a man Nov. 4 who stated that he was her grandson, that he was in Canada, had been arrested and needed $2,400 to be released from jail. Because of articles she has read, the resident questioned the caller who then hung up on her. *69 was unsuccessful.

A resident of the 300 block of Satinwood Terrace reported seeing a man looking into a window at a neighboring residence and then walking around the area at 9:30 a.m. Nov. 6. An officer located the person who stated that he was a friend of the neighbor and was waiting for her to return home.

THEFT

A complainant stated that someone attempted to steal a 2010 box trailer from between Oct. 26 and Nov. 5. The complainant found attempts to pry off the hitch lock. The management will check security video and the gate card reader.

WELL-BEING CHECK

 A gas station clerk reported at 4 a.m Nov. 6 he gave the bathroom key to an intoxicated woman who did not return after 20 minutes. Officers received no answer at the door and when they looked inside, no one was there. The immediate area was checked with negative results.

OTHER INCIDENTS

A complainant reported Nov. 4 that she had been battered by her husband and that there is an order of protection and an arrest warrant for him. Neither the warrant nor the OOP have been served. The complainant will be staying in Buffalo Grove and is concerned for her and her children’s safety. An officer contacted with the husband who acknowledged the warrant and OOP and stated he would consider turning himself in. An extra watch was initiated.

An officer noted a young boy that appeared to be walking aimlessly at 4:15 p.m. Nov. 5 on the 1-100 block of Copperwood Drive. The boy told the officer that he got lost walking home from a friend’s house. The officer transported the boy to his house and turned him over to his dad.
