Police Blotter: Found Wallet, Stolen Liquor

COMPLAINT

A complainant reported that a silver Hyundai SUV passed her on the right and then changed lanes and cut her off at 7:45 a.m. Aug. 8 at North McHenry Road and West Deerfield Parkway. The driver of the Hyundai then stepped on his brakes causing the complainant to slam on hers. The Hyundai driver then exited his vehicle and made a threat to the complainant. An officer attempted to contact the Hyundai driver and left a message on his answering machine. 

FOUND ITEM

A resident reported that he found a brown American Eagle Outfitter wallet on the sidewalk at 10:30 a.m. Aug. 9 at Crofton Lane and Greenridge Road. The wallet contained a Florida learner license and a Chase Visa debit card. The officer was unable to locate a phone number or local address. The wallet was placed into property at police headquarters.

FRAUD

A resident reported Aug. 7 that someone is using her ComEd account information to add secondary service locations in Chicago to her bill. The resident is working with the ComEd fraud unit to resolve the issue. 

PROPERTY DAMAGE

A resident of the 100 block of Golfview Terrace reported his mailbox damaged at 10:45 p.m. Aug. 9.

SUSPICIOUS INCIDENTS

A resident of the 700 block of Heatherdown Way reported Aug. 8 that on the previous night an someone rang his doorbell. When he opened the door he found a large, clear plastic water bottle on the stoop.  

A resident reported placing furniture on sale on Craig’s List. A prospective buyer sent an email stating that she would send a check and that the resident should send any amount in excess of the price back via a MoneyGram. The resident cancelled the sale. 

THEFT

A loss prevention official at reported that a male subject entered the store, took several bottles of alcohol off a shelf, then left the store without paying at 11:55 a.m. Aug. 9. The subject then entered a green 2003 Toyota Camry and left the area.
