Police Blotter: Flower Delivery Includes Unwelcome Surprise

These were among the reports released May 5 by the Buffalo Grove Police Department.

ALARM

Officers responded to an active alarm at 1 p.m. May 4 on the 2700 block of Acacia Terrace and found the patio door unlocked. Officers checked the interior of the home and found everything in order. The door was secured and the homeowner was notified. Two delivery boxes were on the front stoop, and the delivery person may have tripped the alarm when knocking on the front door.

Maksim Ilyukhin, 40, of the 1200 block of Tiffany Court, Vernon Hills, was charged with driving under the influence, speeding, improper lane usage and driving without insurance at 1:50 a.m. May 4 on Milwaukee Avenue at Deerfield Parkway.

DISORDERLY CONDUCT

A resident of the 2100 block of Silver Linden Lane reported that she was relaxing in a lounge chair on her deck at 12:15 p.m. May 4 when she heard a noise behind her.  When the resident stood up she observed a female subject squatting/urinating on the deck’s steps. The resident yelled at the subject, who ran to a van and drove off. An officer located the vehicle and made a stop. The driver stated that she had just delivered flowers to the home and could not hold her bladder. She looked around and thought no one was home and then relieved herself. The resident opted not to sign complaints.

DISPUTE

A complainant reported that there was a group of people arguing in Green Knolls Park at 4:10 p.m. May 4. When the complainant asked for them to leave, so that he could fish in peace and quiet, the complainant got involved in the argument. Words were exchanged before the group of people left the park.

A complainant stated May 4 that he lived with his father in a condo. His father passed away and a sister, who is executor, wants to sell the condo. The complainant wants to buy the condo, but the sister is making it difficult. An officer spoke with the sister’s husband, who stated that the complainant needs to secure a loan before the matter can progress. The complainant stated that he will go to the bank and then hire an attorney.

A resident selling an oven to a subject on May 4, and after loading the oven into a truck, the subject insisted on paying with a personal check. The resident refused the check and an argument ensued. After the officer spoke with the subject, he agreed to go cash the check and pay the resident with cash.

SUSPICIOUS INCIDENT

A dentist reported May 4 that he received a pornographic brochure in the mail and one of the pictures in the pamphlet had a picture of the dentist taped over one of the models. The picture of the dentist was from an advertisement.

THEFT

An official at , 392 Half Day Road, reported April 29 that a number of clothing items were missing. Security video showed a white female, about 50 years old, 5-foot-7 and heavy set, placing the items under her coat and leaving the store.

Someone stole a baby blue Schwinn BMX trick bike. Between April 30 and May 3 from the 300 block of Cherrywood Road. The bike has the words “Predator” and “Schwinn” written on the frame.

A resident reported May 3 that her ex-husband returned the children from visitation and took the family’s VCR/DVD player.
