Police Blotter: Five Teens Charged with Underage Drinking

ALCOHOL/DRUGS

Four 17-year-olds and one 16-year-old, all of Wheeling, were charged with possession and consumption of alcohol by a minor after an officer made a traffic stop at 1:30 a.m. June 12 at McHenry and Lake-Cook roads and smelled alcohol and burnt cannabis. Recovered from the vehicle were open and partially full bottles of alcohol, drug paraphernalia and a small amount of green leafy substance. One of the 17-year-olds also was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia. The driver, who had picked up her friends from a party, was released without charges.

A resident reported at 2:20 p.m. June 11 that her adult son locked himself in his room and a short time later, she heard a loud thump. The resident was unable to get her son to answer the door. Officers and paramedics made entry into the room and found the son unconscious. The son was revived and then transported to the hospital. Officers recovered drugs and paraphernalia from the room.

DUMPING

A business owner on the 400 block of Half Day Road reported that someone placed cardboard boxes in and around the business’ Dumpster between June 9 and June 11. An officer located the offender and had him remove his trash.

A resident reported June 11 that she could not locate her green zippered pocketbook. She last had it while shopping in Schaumburg on June 10 and discovered it missing the next day. She was advised to cancel her credit cards and obtain a duplicate driver’s license. 

PROPERTY DAMAGE

A resident of the 2200 block of Avalon Court South reported that when she arrived at home at 2:15 p.m. June 11, she found that someone had caused a hole in the glass basketball backboard that is in the driveway. The glass shattered.

RUNAWAY

A father reported June 11 that his 16-year-old daughter had run away again. Friends were contacted but none knew where the girl was. The girl was entered into the police state database.

THEFT

A resident reported that while his son was attending college in November, someone accessed his cellphone account and charged more than $800 in services. A claim has been filed with the cellphone provider.

VIOLATION OF ORDER OF PROTECTION

Carmine A. DiPaolo, 48, of the 1100 block of Palm, Wheeling, was charged with violating an order of protection on June 9, after a resident reported that her estranged husband was observed driving on the resident’s street and stopping in front of the home, at 9:10 p.m. The husband attempted to have their 11-year-old son go with him, but the boy ran into the house.

OTHER INCIDENTS

A resident reported June 11 that she received notice from the IRS that her tax return had been flagged, but the resident had yet to file her return. When the resident did file her return, she was notified that one also was flagged. The IRS requested a police report and the resident has contacted the Social Security Administration and the credit bureaus.

A complainant reported that she hired an attorney in April to represent her with her deceased aunt’s estate. The complainant left some paperwork with the attorney and he now refuses to return that paperwork due to a billing dispute. The attorney has withdrawn from the case and a new attorney stated he would obtain the paperwork.

A resident of the 100 block of St. Mary’s Parkway reported that his ex-girlfriend came to the house to speak with him and he refused to do so at 8:45 p.m. June 11. The ex was asked to leave and she kept stalling. The ex departed before officers arrived, but they located her driving in the area. She was advised not to return. An officer went to speak with the resident and during that time, the ex returned and was promptly told to leave.
