Police Blotter: Drunken Man Gets Ride to the Dentist

ALCOHOL

A 14-year-old Wheeling resident was charged with possession and consumption of alcohol by a minor at 12:45 p.m. April 30 on the 1000 block of Plum Grove Circle.

An official reported that an intoxicated man arrived at looking for a dentist’s office at 2:30 p.m. May 7. The man then began speaking with customers and making a nuisance of himself. Officers located the man and gave him a ride to his dentist’s office.

BURGLARY

Someone entered two vehicles, which were unlocked, between 9 p.m. May 5 and 6 a.m. May 7 at a home on the 400 block of Navajo Trail and removed loose change from the center consoles.

CIVIL MATTER

A resident of the 1-100 block of Buckingham Lane reported May 7 that he made a contract in October with a roofing contractor to repair his roof. The agreement called for the resident to pay half up front and the other half upon completion of the job. The resident paid the first half, but the work was never done. Attempts to contact the contractor have failed. An officer advised the resident that this is a civil matter and to contact an attorney.

DISPUTE

A gas station clerk reported a customer purchased $64.28 worth of gas at 4:30 p.m. May 7. The customer’s debit card was declined, and the customer told the clerk he would return with payment by 6 p.m. and he did not. An officer identified the offender and went to the house. The vehicle that was used to purchase the gas was in the driveway, but no one answered the door. The officer left a message on the offender’s voicemail. When the officer contacted the Shell station later that evening, the clerk said the bill had been paid.

DUMPING COMPLAINT

A resident of the 1000 block of Johnson Drive reported May 7 that someone dumped a rolled up carpet between the walking path and the Chevy Chase Golf Course. An officer inspected the carpet and found nothing rolled up inside and no indicators of ownership. A work order to remove the carpet was issued.

OUTSIDE DEPARTMENT ASSIST

Arlington Heights police were dispatched to a report of a female shoplifter who ran from Kohl’s security and drove off in a silver Lexus at 4 p.m. May 7. An officer located the vehicle and the offender and found some of the stolen merchandise on the ground. The officer turned the shoplifter, vehicle and merchandise over to the Arlington Heights police.

PROPERTY DAMAGE

A dentist on the 300 block of Dundee Road reported that someone knocked the security camera from its mounting on the rear of the business between May 4 and May 7. The dentist also has found graffiti on his storage shed and numerous empty beer bottles around the building. The dentist has requested a check of the property on the weekends.

SUSPICIOUS PERSON

A resident of the 600 block of Raintree Road reported an unknown man came to the front door and rang the doorbell a number of times at 4 p.m. May 7. When the resident did not answer the door, the visitor left in a white vehicle. The area was checked with negative results.
