Police Blotter: Dog Found, Men in Green Raise Suspicion

ALCOHOL

John A. Schmidt, 60, of the 100 block of Oak Creek Drive, Buffalo Grove, was charged with driving under the influence, driving with a blood-alcohol content above the legal limit and speeding at 1:59 a.m. Feb. 14 on Dundee Road near Golfview. 

ANIMALS

A citizen reported finding a male Manchester terrier with mostly black markings, no collar and no tags at 3 p.m. Feb. 13 at Lake-Cook and Buffalo Grove roads. The dog was transported to Kings Kennel after officers were unable to locate the owner.

A citizen reported a dog ran from a yard and bit their dog while they were walking at 4:44 p.m. Feb. 13 on the 600 block of St. Mary’s Parkway. Officers arrived and explained the dog bite procedures to all involved. 

ATTEMPTED SCAM

A resident reported receiving a letter from U.S. Airlines advising that he won two travel tickets on Feb. 13. He was also provided a phone number to call and exchange information. It was determined that the letter was a scam.

SOLICITOR COMPLAINT

A resident of the 700 block of Woodhollow reported that three white men wearing lime green jackets came to her door and stated they were from AT&T. When the resident asked them if they had a permit, they stated they did, but they did not show it. Officers checked the area but could not locate the solicitors. 

SUSPICOUS INCIDENT

A complainant reported seeing two customers removing tags off the shoes from a shelf at 3:27 p.m. Feb. 13 at Rogan’s Shoes. The customers were confronted and asked to leave. Officers arrived and also advised the customers they were not welcome to return to the store at the store’s request.
