Police Blotter: Child Reported Missing, Garbage Picking Complaint

COMPLAINTS

A company official reported receiving numerous text messages from a former employee at 1:30 p.m. March 26. The messages were about money owed, and seeing him around, but included no direct threats. The official also stated that the former employee has not returned a company car. The official requested no police contact at this time until the attorney made notification.

A resident of the 700 block of Old Checker Court reported March 26 that a person goes through her garbage every week and this makes her uncomfortable. The officer advised that there is no prohibition for anyone scrapping, and that she may want to consider placing her garbage out the morning of collection.

A resident reported two people outside of a house, yelling at each other at 10:30 p.m. March 26 on the 1-100 block of Columbus Parkway. Officers responded and found the two people inside the house, where all was calm.

IMPROPER SECURITY

A resident of West Fox Hill Drive reported March 26 that a neighbor’s garage door had been open for a couple of days. Officers were able to gain access into the home and found no one inside. The interior appeared to be OK. An officer secured the home and left a message for the resident.

MISSING PERSON

A resident reported that her 9-year-old son snuck out of the apartment while she was working in the bedroom at 10:45 a.m. March 26. She spent an hour looking for the boy without success. Officers located the boy and returned him to mom. The Department of Children and Family Services, which has an open case with the family, was advised and will follow up.

A resident reported March 26 that her mother has been missing since February from her apartment in Chicago, and the resident has not heard anything about the investigation. The mother left the apartment leaving all of her personal identification, money and cellphone behind. As a courtesy to the resident, a Buffalo Grove investigator will follow up with the Chicago detective.

PROPERTY DAMAGE

A resident of Wakefield Court reported March 26 that a landscaper was trimming a tree in a neighbor’s yard and a large limb fell and damaged the fence. The landscaper agreed to repair the fence later.

WELL-BEING CHECK

A woman reported that her ex-boyfriend was intoxicated and that he was threatening to kill himself with a gun at 12:15 p.m. March 26. Officers met with the ex-boyfriend who stated that he had no intention of killing himself and that if the ex-girlfriend called then it was only to cause problems for him.
