Police Blotter: Burglar Breaks Car Windows, Steals Purses

BURGLARY

Someone broke windows out of three vehicles and removed purses that were left on the front seat or the floor of the cars during a 10-minute period the morning of Nov 10 in a parking lot on the 1700 block of Weiland Road. Security video showed a silver Ford Edge with tinted windows and no front license plate enter the parking lot, park in various parking spots and then leave.

Someone smashed the rear driver’s side window to a vehicle and removed a purse from the seat on Nov. 10 in a parking lot on the 1500 block of Abbott Court. Surveillance video showed a silver SUV entered the lot at 8:15 a.m. and moved from parking spot to parking spot within the lot. The video showed a person dressed in black break the window of the victim’s car, reach in and remove the purse.

COMPLAINTS

A property manager of an apartment building in Buffalo Grove reported receiving a disturbing call from who she suspected was an evicted resident at 11 a.m. Nov. 9. Since the call was received in Long Grove, the complainant was referred to the Lake County Sheriff’s Department.

A resident reported that as he was traveling westbound on Bernard Drive at 12:10 p.m. Nov. 5, a vehicle failed to yield from Glendale Road and turned in front of the resident. An officer spoke with the offender, who stated that he was checking his navigation device and failed to yield the right of way. The offender also stated that he pulled over and apologized to the resident.

A resident reported Nov. 10 that his girlfriend’s ex-husband calls and leaves threatening messages and speaks badly about him to the girlfriend’s children. The resident was given instructions on obtaining a no-contact order from the courts.
