Police Blotter: Boss Hits Staffer with Football

ALCOHOL

Valentine Zaehringer, 68, of the 6900 block of Zachary Drive, Carpentersville, was charged with driving under the include and illegal lane usage at 11:55 p.m. Feb. 14 on westbound Dundee Road west of Arlington Heights Road.

IDENTITY THEFT

A resident reported that her Social Security number was used to open two cell phone accounts between Feb. 7-8. The accounts were cancelled and the credit bureaus were notified.

A resident reported that someone opened an Apple iTunes account using the resident’s personal ID between Feb. 11-12.. Apple has been contacted.

An employee at a business on the 1200 block of West Dundee Road reported Feb. 14 that a customer attempted to use a gift certificate that had been purchased with a stolen credit card. The customer stated that she received the certificate from an acquaintance, and she only knows his name.      

OTHER INCIDENTS

An employee at a business on the 1200 block of North Barclay Boulevard reported that her manager threw a football at her, striking her in the head at 5 p.m. Feb. 10. The employee did not know if it was intentional, but stated that their work relationship has been confrontational. The manager would not speak with police, but stated the football was a Nerf. No complaints were signed, but the company’s human resources department will look into the incident.
