Police Blotter: 2 Homes Burglarized

The following information was supplied by the Buffalo Grove Police Department. Arrests do not indicate a conviction.

ALARM

Officers responded to an active alarm at 11:55 a.m. June 1 on the 400 block of Burnt Ember Lane and found the rear French door swinging in the wind. Officers checked the residence and found no one inside and all appeared to be in order. Officers left a note on the kitchen counter, a message on voicemail and were able to secure the doors.

BURGLARY

Residents of the 2300 block of Avalon returned home at 11 p.m. May 28 to find items had been thrown about the house since they left at 7:45 p.m. They feared that someone may still be inside. Officers checked and found no one in the house. There were signs of forced entry to the front door and the patio doors, which had been secured, were found open. Taken was a fireproof box and jewelry. 

A resident of the 1100 block of Miller Lane reported that she woke up at 4:05 a.m. June 2 and found a male subject standing in her apartment. The resident screamed and the subject left. Officers checked the surrounding area with negative results. The area was canvassed but no witnesses were located. The subject is described as a white male, possibly in his 20s, approximately 5 feet 5 inches tall, with a thin build and short, cropped hair. Nothing was missing from the apartment.

DISORDERLY CONDUCT

A resident reported three youths who had what appeared to be guns in their waistbands at 6:20 p.m. June 1 near Silver Rock Lane and Farrington Drive. Officers located the youths, who were in possession of airsoft pistols. In the presence of their parents, officers instructed the youths on the inadvisability of carrying guns in public, whether real or airsoft guns.

MISSING TEEN

A resident reported at 7 p.m. June 1 that his 15-year-old son was to go to his grandmother’s house after school, but did not show up. The boy was located later that night with a friend.
