Driver Collides with Car, Light Pole

One driver was cited in two-car accident March 28 at Route 83 and Arlington Heights Road.

No one was seriously injured in a two-car accident that culminated with a light pole falling onto one of the vehicles Wednesday night in Buffalo Grove.

Cpl. Tony Goldstein said the accident occurred at 5:45 p.m., when a driver heading west on Route 83 turned left on a yellow light onto Arlington Heights Road. A driver on eastbound Route 83 struck the vehicle as it turned, Goldstein said. 

The eastbound driver spun out and struck a light pole, which toppled onto the car, he said.

“Nobody was hurt, per say, but one of the drivers did go to the hospital just to be checked out,” Goldstein said.

The driver who turned on the yellow light was cited, he said.

A portion of Route 83 was partially closed following the crash, and the light pole remained in the road around 8 p.m. crews will remove it, Goldstein said.
