Buffalo Grove Police Issue Burglary Alert

Police are asking residents to be aware and call 911 to report suspicious activity following recent home burglaries in the village.

 

Buffalo Grove police are advising residents to be on alert for suspicious noises, vehicles or people around their homes following seven home burglaries since February.

The seven burglaries took place during afternoons and evenings, police said. The offenders gained access to homes by breaking rear windows, prying back patio doors or forcing/kicking in front doors. Stolen property has included jewelry, cash, laptop computers and iPads. Six of the burglaries occured in Lake County.

Police have stepped up patrols of Buffalo Grove neighborhoods using both marked and unmarked cars, according to the department. Investigators are also working with police in nearby towns that have experienced similar crimes.

"All of the suburbs are getting hit. It could be one group of people or it could be several groups of people," Buffalo Grove Cmdr. Jim Newton said.

Buffalo Grove residents are advised to call 911 immediately if they see or hear anything suspicious around their homes or their neighbors' homes.
