The following items were among police reports released the week of Aug. 30

ALCOHOL

Miguel Angel Salgado, 41, of the 100 block of Laurel Court, Wheeling, was charged with driving under the influence, illegal lane usage and improper parking in roadway at 1:40 a.m. Aug. 29 near the intersection of Dundee Road and Vernon Lane.

Bunty H. Kothari, 37, of the 200 block of Crest Court, Bloomingdale, was charged with driving under the influence and illegal lane usage at 2:20 a.m. Aug. 29 near the intersection of Dundee and Buffalo Grove roads.

Rogelio Reyes, 18, of the 800 block of Burr Oaks Drive, West Chicago, was charged with driving under the influence, no valid driver's license, no valid registration, driving without insurance and illegal lane usage at 4 a.m. Aug. 29 near the intersection of Dundee Road and Vernon Lane.

Carol A. Stanton-Serene, 60, of the 1000 block of Auburn Lane, Buffalo Grove, was charged with driving under the influence and illegal lane usage at 8 p.m. Aug. 31 on Auburn Lane.

Taylor Rae Kopecki, 19, of the 1700 block of Birch Street, Des Plaines, was charged with possession and consumption of alcohol by a minor at 12:15 a.m. Sept. 1 near the intersection of Dundee and Buffalo Grove roads.

Iwona Kinga Uchwat, 19, of the 100 block of East Northwest Highway, Des Plaines, was charged with driving under the influence, possession and consumption of alcohol by a minor and driving without tail lights at 12:15 a.m. Sept. 1 near the intersection of Dundee and Buffalo Grove roads.

Kristyn Arielle Krummel, 19, of the 2400 block of Campbell Street, Rolling Meadows, was charged with possession and consumption of alcohol by a minor at 2:30 a.m. Sept. 2 at the intersection of Dundee and Old Arlington Heights roads.

Richard Lee Brown, 19, of the the 4700 block of Arbor Drive, Rolling Meadows, was charged with possession and consumption of alcohol by a minor at 2:30 a.m. Sept. 2 at the intersection of Dundee and Old Arlington Heights roads.

Nicole Marie Hanley, 19, of the 2200 Block of Bluebird Lane, Rolling Meadows, was charged with driving under the influence, possession and consumption of alcohol by a minor, and driving with an expired registration at 2:30 a.m. Sept. 2 at the intersection of Dundee and Old Arlington Heights roads.

DRUGS

Griffin MC Willis, 25, of the 1-100 block of Upper Pond Road, Barrington, was charged with possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia at 1:10 a.m. Aug. 29 on the 1100 Block of Courtland Drive.

BATTERY

Raymond David, 50, of Oak Creek Drive, Buffalo Grove, was charged with domestic battery at 1 a.m. Aug. 30.

Paul Michael Gamsu, 54, of the 1200 block of Franklin Lane, Buffalo Grove, was charged with domestic battery at 5:30 a.m. Aug. 30.

Jeffrey J. Williams, 20, of the 9100 block of Marion Ave., Morton Grove, was charged with battery following a fight at 12:05 a.m. Sept. 1 on the 900 block of Crofton Lane.

THEFT FROM VEHICLE

A handicap placard was reported stolen from an unlocked car between noon Aug. 26 and noon Aug. 27 on the 100 block of Lake Boulevard.

A navigation system was reported stolen from a car between 9 a.m. Aug. 26 and 6:45 a.m. Aug. 27 on the 500 block of Ridgewood Lane.

A navigation system was stolen from a vehicle parked on the 1000 block of Courtland Drive sometime between 7 p.m. Aug. 27 and 1:05 p.m. Aug. 28. There were no signs of forced entry.

A navigation system was reported stolen at 9:40 p.m. Aug. 28 from an unlocked car parked at a business on the 1300 block of West Dundee Road.

A navigation system and iPod charging cord were reported stolen from a vehicle parked on the 200 block of Navajo Trail sometime between 1:30 p.m. Aug. 28 and 1 p.m. Aug. 29.

A speaker box and amplifier were reported stolen from an unlocked vehicle parked on the 100 block of Bernard Drive sometime between Aug. 26-31.

A complainant reported that $1,400 in cash was stolen from her purse sometime between 7 a.m.-1 p.m. Aug. 31. The owner had covered the purse with a towel and left it in her car, which was later determined to have had an unlocked side door, while she made a number of stops. She was at work when she discovered the money was missing from her purse.

THEFT OVER $300

A complainant stated that he entered a business on the 1200 block of North Barclay Boulevard the afternoon of Aug. 30 carrying a case with a laptop.  The complainant then spoke with some individuals and when he went to retrieve the case, it was gone.  Two managers that spoke with the complainant stated that when the complainant arrived, they did not see him carrying a case.

A resident stated that his teenage daughter had friends over while the resident was out of town, and a laptop computer was stolen from the residence, on the 1-100 block of Somerset Lane sometime between 10 p.m. Aug. 13 and 1 a.m. Aug. 14. Another laptop was also missing, but was later returned.

Two Schwinn bicycles were reported stolen from a garage Aug. 31 on the 1500 block of Countryside Drive. The bikes were each valued at $150.

An owner reported that when he checked his equipment in a warehouse on the 700 block of Hastings Lane, three ladders and two scaffolds were missing. The theft occurred sometime between June 1 and Aug. 23.

A resident reported that after loading her groceries into her car she forgot to take her purse out of the cart and drove away at 5:30 p.m. Aug. 28.  When the resident returned to the store, on the 1-100 block of McHenry Road, 30 minutes later, the purse was gone and store personnel were not aware of the purse having been left behind.  The resident made all the proper notifications to her bank and credit providers.

THEFT UNDER $300

A Buffalo Grove Park District employee reported that someone stole the seventh hole golf sign from the Frisbee golf course at Willow Stream Park, 651 Old Checker Road, sometime between 5 p.m. Aug. 28 and 10:30 a.m. Aug. 29. The sign is valued at $150.

A commuter reported his mountain bike, which was left locked at the Prairie View Train Station, 2701 Main St., was stolen sometime between Aug. 25-27.

DECEPTIVE PRACTICES

A resident reported Aug. 27 that she received a letter announcing she had won $125,000, and instructing her to send a check for $3,689 to cover taxes to claim her winnings. An officer called the phone number listed on the letter, identified himself, and the other party hung up.

A resident reported that someone used his personal ID information to open up numerous credit accounts with a number of credit providers between April 1 and Aug. 30.  The resident is working with the credit bureaus to restore his ID and credit.

A resident reported selling two cell phones over eBay on Aug. 16, and when the buyer returned one of them on Aug. 30, the box contained only the phone accessories but no phone.  The resident will contest the transaction with PayPal.

SUSPICIOUS PERSON

Police responded to a call of an unknown person looking into the windows of a home for sale on the 200 block of Golfview Terrace. The subject stated he was trying to look at the property prior to his appointment the following day.

DISORDERLY CONDUCT

A manager of a restaurant on the 1-100 block of South Buffalo Grove Road said the establishment received a number of phony food orders from Aug. 24-31. It was determined that a subject was trying to cause trouble for the person for whom the order was placed.  An officer is following up.

MISSING ADULT

A resident reported that her husband left the house after having an argument with his mother on the phone.  The husband at 2 p.m. and did not return home that night.  The husband did not show up at work in the morning.  It was determined that the husband stayed at an area motel.  The husband, who returned home at 10 a.m. Aug. 30, stated that he had needed some time to himself.

A resident reported that her 90-year-old mother had wandered away the morning of Aug. 30. The missing woman was located and brought home.

ATTEMPT TO LOCATE

A resident reported that her 17-year-old son had not returned home from school at 4:30 p.m. Sept. 1, and she believed he was hanging out with kids that she does not approve of.  The son returned home that evenng and told the officer that he went to a friend's house and did not tell his mom because he knew she would not let him go.  Officer spoke with the young man about his behavior and possible consequences.

PROPERTY DAMAGE

A resident on the 1100 block of Gail Drive reported her mailbox was damaged sometime between 8 a.m. and 7 p.m. Aug. 27.

A vehicle was reportedly scratched sometime between 1 a.m. Aug. 29 and 1:45 p.m. Aug. 30 while parked on Oak Creek Drive.

SUSPICIOUS INCIDENT

A reported at 3:25 p.m. Aug. 30 that someone unknown had entered the house, overturned furniture and punched a hole in the hallway wall.  After some lengthy discussion it was determined that the damage was incurred during an argument with a friend. The resident made up the story of an unknown intruder to keep the argument from her mother.

ABANDONED VEHICLE

Police responded to a report of a vehicle parked in a common lot on the 1200 block of Wellington Court South that was unmoved from Aug. 20-30. An officer located the vehicle, which had no license plate or anything inside the car.  A VIN check gave a name of an owner but no phone information could be located.  An area police department was contacted to attempt to make contact with that owner.

FOUND ARTICLE

Fire personnel reported that a female subject left her car key and her eyeglasses on the fire truck that was parked in the police department parking lot and left without them at 8:15 p.m. Sept. 1.  The items have been placed in the will call tray at the front desk of the police station.

TRESPASSING

A resident reported a vehicle pulled into a neighboring driveway of a unit that is under foreclosure on the 500 block of LeParc Circle. Officers found a subject inside cooking and watching TV. When he was advised no one was to be there, he apologized and stated he would take his belongings and leave. The unit was posted "No Trespassing" and the management company will sign a complaint.  Shadi Ym Al Sharif, 32, who police said is homeless, was charged with trespassing.

OTHER INCIDENTS

Police responded to a report of an unknown vehicle parked at a restaurant on the 2700 block of Main Street. Officers discovered a man sleeping in the car. The man told police he was a former restaurant employee, and was waiting for other employees to help him start his car.

Police responded to a report of a resident burning leaves at 9:50 a.m. Aug. 27 on the 200 block of Golfview Terrace. An officer advised the resident of the village's ban on leaf burning, and the flames were doused.

Police responded to a report that a resident went into an office complex at 3:20 p.m. Aug. 28 on the 1-100 block of South Buffalo Grove Road to complain about cars parking taking up two spaces.  The discussion turned heated and the resident was asked to leave.  When the resident refused the complainant called 911.  An officer spoke with the resident and advised her she was not welcome in the office.

A resident on the 1100 block of Miller Lane reported that he and his girlfriend were moving out and their neighbor, with whom they have had problems, came out onto his second floor balcony, wearing only his underwear, and began yelling at the resident at 12:40 p.m. Aug. 29.  An officer spoke with the neighbor who was surprised that one cannot go onto their balcony, dressed only in underwear and confront one's neighbors.  He was advised accordingly.

A resident of the 100 block of Bristol Lane reported an unknown vehicle parked in the street and people knocking on her door calling her name at 5:35 p.m. Aug. 29.  The resident stated that she was concerned because she lost her purse in Chicago the previous day.  Officer located the subjects, who had come to the residence to return the purse that was found in Chicago.  The resident reported that nothing was missing from the purse.

Police responded to a report of a young boy riding a scooter on Deerfield Parkway, heading toward Milwaukee Avenue, at 5:10 p.m. Sept. 1. An officer located the 7-year-old and advised his mother of the potentially dangerous situation.
