Esther Kogut, 90

Services are scheduled for Oct. 5.

Esther Kogut, 90, of Buffalo Grove, formerly of Detroit, MI and Glendale, AZ died Oct. 2 at her home.

Visitation will be held at 9:30 a.m.Oct. 5 at , 201 N. Northwest Hwy., Palatine, followed by a funeral service at 11 a.m.

She will be laid to rest next to her husband, Armand, Oct. 8 at the Phoenix Memorial Park Cemetery in Phoenix, AZ.

Esther was born to Hungarian immigrants on Oct. 24, 1920, in Vestaburg, PA to the late Martin and Esther (Lewis) Szabo.

Esther loved her family and friends and she took pride in her family and enjoyed being surrounded by those who loved her. Esther was an excellent cook and seamstress. She loved to bake, especially Hungarian pastries. She also enjoyed sharing her pastries with her neighbors and friends. In her younger years, she would can seasonal vegetables and fruits for the family and prepare her own preserves and jellies. Her sewing and needlework abilities were outstanding.  She has created memorable items for family and friends to enjoy.

Esther endured many tough situations in her life, but through her faith and strong will she was able to come through them stronger and more determined for a better life. Esther’s faith was strong and she read the Bible every morning.  Esther was an asset to any church she belonged to. She was a member of Christ Memorial Presbyterian Church of Royal Oak, MI and Bethany Presbyterian of Glendale, AZ. She was most recently a special friend of Living Christ Lutheran Church of Arlington Heights. Special thanks to Pastor Paul Klopke for all he has done.

Esther is preceded in death by her parents, two sisters, Rose and Emma Szabo and her loving husband Armand Kogut; loving mother of Martin (Diane) Pospeshil, Karin (William) Kogut-Haught and Caroline (Steve) Hadobas; dear grandmother of Linda (Mark) LaBarge, Steven Hadobas, Brian (Meghan) and Christopher (Danet) Milovich, Kristina (Peter) Bony, Michael (Erica) and Matthew Pospeshil; cherished great-grandmother of Mark and Michael LaBarge, Nathan and Brandon Hadobas, Jasper Milovich, Avani Bony and Lennon Pospeshil; great-great-grandmother of Michael LaBarge.
