Police Blotter: Salon Customer Loses Diamond Ring

BURGLARY

A resident came home from shopping at 11:40 a.m. Dec. 13, pulled the car into the garage on the 1-100 block of Buckingham Lane and left the garage door and trunk of the car open while he went inside the house. When the resident returned to the garage, he found the garage door closed and the trunk to the vehicle closed. When he checked the trunk, he found a shopping bag missing.

A resident of the 100 block of Cherrywood Road reported that two men were soliciting at 3:55 p.m. Dec. 13. An officer spoke with the men, who stated that they were selling meat. They did not have a permit and were told to stop.

An officer located a man who was soliciting for AT&T at 6 p.m. Dec. 13 at MacArthur Drive and Hawthorne Road. The man stated that he thought a permit had been issued since he signed the paperwork earlier in the day. He was asked to stop until the permit was issued.

LOST ITEM

A complainant stated that she removed a platinum diamond ring from her hand and placed it in her pocket while having her nails done at between noon and 2:30 p.m. on the 200 block of North McHenry Road. When leaving, she noted that the ring was no longer in her pocket. The premises were checked but the ring was not located. The ring is valued at $5,900.

SUSPICIOUS INCIDENT

A resident of the 700 block of Dunhill Drive reported that a man and woman came to her door at 8 p.m. Dec. 13 and asked if she had either AT&T or Comcast cable service. When the resident replied she had Comcast, the woman asked if she would consider changing to AT&T. The resident said her husband handles that and the woman asked if she could return when the husband was at home. When the resident said yes, the man and woman left.

THEFT

Someone broke into two storage trailers and removed three snow blowers valued at $4,000 between 8 p.m. Dec. 12 and 7:45 a.m. Dec. 13 on the 2100 block of Apple Hill Lane.

OTHER INCIDENTS

A bank notified a resident that someone opened a PayPal Smart Connect account in his wife’s name between Dec. 7 and Dec. 13. The resident will follow up with the bank.
