Boeger Apartment Meeting Tonight in Buffalo Grove

Building would house residents with mental illness

The Housing Task Force will hold a community meeting at 7:30 p.m. Sept. 14 at Kingswood United Methodish Church to discuss and receive feedback on a proposed apartment building for mentally ill residents. The building would be constructed on Boeger Drive in Arlington Heights, near the border of Buffalo Grove.

The prosposal has attracted attention from residents of both communities, who have expressed concern about the building's location, near Buffalo Grove High School and a nearby daycare facility.

Buffalo Grove resident Rob Sherman is among those planning to attend the meeting. Sherman describes himself as "an advocate for the mentally ill, but opposed to the project."

"It's a terrible location," he said, adding he can think of other nearby parcels better suited for the 30-unit apartment building.
