Acuna Named to Vernon Library Board

Long Grove resident Ed Acuna was appointed to fill a vacancy.

Long Grove resident Ed Acuna has been appointed to the . He fills a created by a resignation earlier this year. 

Acuna was selected from among 13 applicants for the position. He holds a master’s degree in management from the Kellogg Graduate School of Management at Northwestern University, and a master’s and bachelor’s degree in engineering from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. He served on the Village of Long Grove Board of Trustees from 2007 to 2011 and the Village of Long Grove Plan Commission and Zoning Board of Appeals from 2001-2007. He is currently the Economic Development Chair of the Long Grove Business and Community Partners.

The Vernon Area Public Library District Board of Trustees provides a liaison between the general public and the library. The Board has the legal authority and responsibility to see that the library is well managed, and that it operates in accordance the laws of the State of Illinois and the policies established by the Board itself. Duties and responsibilities include budget oversight, policy formulation, long- and short-range planning, and appointment of the library director. The Board of Trustees regularly meets on the third Monday of each month at 7 p.m. at the library.
