Animal Lovers Invited to Share Holiday Spirit with Needy Pets

For the 11th year, Best Friends Pet Care's angel tree supports animal shelters.

Animal lovers can share their holiday spirit by donating food, toys and treats for homeless dogs and cats through Best Friends Pet Care’s 11th Annual Angel Tree campaign. All donations will benefit Nina's Pet Food Pantry, Foster 2 Home and Midwest Pet Rescue.

“The holiday season is always difficult for our local animal shelters,” Best Friends manager Karen Chylewski said. “Donations of food and funds fall off because we are all preoccupied with the holidays. The poor economy over the past several years has made matters even worse. Shelter volunteers tell us that they really depend upon our Angel Tree program to get through the holiday season.”

The Angel Tree in the lobby of Best Friends Pet Care is decorated with paper ornaments providing information about needy dogs and cats. Pet lovers are invited to select a card from the tree and donate the listed holiday gifts. Since each shelter has specific needs, donors are asked to shop from the shelter’s wish list. All of the pets featured are available for adoption.
