Symphonic Band Presents Fall Concert

Performance will have the audience moving to a variety of rhythmic tunes.

The Buffalo Grove Symphonic Band will present its fall concert, “American Dances,” at 7 p.m. Nov. 13 at .

The concert is centered on dance from North America, South America and Mexico. Performances will include Aaron Copland ballets that celebrate U.S. folklore such as “Billy the Kid,” the fiddler’s tune of “Spoon River” by Percy Grainger, the Argentinian rhythms of Alberto Ginastera’s “Danza Final,” sounds of Brazil (featuring percussionists) and “Danzon #2” by Mexican composer Arturo Marquez

The jazz and symphonic bands will perform the music of Steely Dan, The Beatles, Booker T and hits from Glee during the second half.

Tickets are available in advance for $10 by calling at (847) 459-2518. Admission is $12 at the door. Students and seniors will be admitted for $8.

The band includes 70 adult musicians who play wind or percussion instruments.

instrumentalists are invited to join the band without audition. There are currently needs for a bass guitarist for the jazz band and clarinet and French horn players. For more information, visit the band’s page on the Village of Buffalo Grove’s website.
