Reinhart Remains on the Road to Idol

Haley Reinhart survived another elimination round Thursday on American Idol.

For the second week in a row, Wheeling resident Haley Reinhart narrowly avoided elimination, once again finishing in the bottom three but surviving another round of American Idol.

The 20-year-old, who graduated from and now attends Harper College, sang Whitney Houston's "I'll Be Your Baby Tonight" during Wednesday night’s competition. The performance received a lukewarm reception from American Idol's judges.

"I see you performing up there I hear this amazing voice coming out, there's no doubt about that," Jennifer Lopez said during the show. However, she said Reinhart had to work on being more natural in her movements on stage.

Randy Jackson was more critical in his comments.

"I'm just not sure you're sure of who you are," Jackson said, noting that Reinhart had performed a country song the previous week. Jackson said Reinhart needed to carve out an identity, adding that it "wasn't a great performance."

Reinhart acknowledged Thursday that she enjoys a variety of styles and that it’s hard for her to commit to just one.

“If I could put it all together, I’d like to put rock and funk and blues all into one,” she told host Ryan Seacrest.

At the end of the show, Reinhart was spared elimination; instead, competitor Karen Rodriguez was voted off.

Reinhart and the 10 other remaining contestants will sing again at 7 p.m. Wednesday on Fox.
