Skunk War? We Asked, You Answered

Here's what Buffalo Grove Patch's Facebook fans are saying about whether the village should start combatting the skunk population.

Should Buffalo Grove follow Vernon Hills’ lead and attempt to de-skunk — or at least try to reduce the population of the little stinkers — in the village?

Buffalo Grove Patch’s Facebook fans expressed strong support for such an effort in response to a story this week about Buffalo Grove’s decision to keep tabs on the effectiveness of skunk trapping in Vernon Hills.

Patch readers took to Facebook to share concerns over the impact of skunks on their property, their pets and their noses.

Here’s what a few people had to say:

Jon Katz: Yes! This is a big problem in Buffalo Grove. We're coming up on their mating season, and the problem will only get worse come spring time when the females give birth to their litters!

Sara Lambert: YES! We have already paid to have 5 removed from our yard and there are still more. We are seeing them during the day which is a real issue! There is not a single night that I don't see at least one while walking around the park too! The smell is nearly constant and enough is enough!!

Nancy Bohrer: NO! Live and let live. They eat grubs. And dozens are being run over cars daily.
