Kilmer Park Reconstruction Underway

The Buffalo Grove Park District is redeveloping Kilmer Park this summer.

Kilmer Park, which has been reduced to piles of dirt, will soon reveal a complete transformation.

The park, located on Golfview Terrace, is undergoing a makeover this summer. The eight-acre park has been been razed, and construction crews are working behind the fenced-off area, which bears signs warning people to stay outside the construction zone.

While an exact completion date has not been set, the park “should be done before school starts,” Buffalo Grove Park District spokesman Mike Terson said.

Classes for District 21 students begin Aug. 21. That district includes Kilmer Elementary School, which is adjacent to the park.

The redeveloped park will feature a new playground with a rubberized surface; two lighted tennis courts; a basketball court; a Baggo court; a new baseball field with a batting cage, benches and bleachers; fitness equipment,;skate elements; and a shelter. The construction also includes landscaping and drainage work.
