Community Corner

A Blend of Politics and Comedy

Tenth Congressional District Democrats gathering supported the Community Connection Center.

Forty-five members of the Tenth Congressional District Democrats gathered Feb. 12 to support the Community Connection Center, have dinner and take in a comedy show.

"It's exciting to be able to support local businesses and the arts by bringing together Democrats from all across the 10th Congressional District for a night of food, conversation and comedy in the heart of downtown Waukegan," community organizer Ilya Sheyman said in a statement.

The outing followed a strategy meeting and open house in January that was attended by more than 200 elected officials, community leaders, and activists from across the 10th Congressional District who came to learn more about the Center’s mission, to discuss the work already begun in the community, and to plan ways to collaborate with the Center and with one another.

The Tenth Dems’ Community Connection Center in downtown Waukegan connects residents of Waukegan, North Chicago, and the entire district with social, non-profit and government services.

“Community Connection truly exemplifies grassroots Democratic politics in action,” Tenth Dems Chair Lauren Beth Gash said in a statement.
