Community Donates $19,000 — and Counting — to Mundelein Stabbing Victim's Family

Residents are turning to fundraising site GoFundMe to support the family of the 11-year-old girl who was fatally stabbed.

Hundreds of supporters are reaching out to the family of the 11-year-old Mundelein girl who was fatally stabbed last week by making donations toward the girl's funeral expenses and the family's other needs.

As of Tuesday, more than 500 donors had contributed more than $19,000 to the family through fundraising site GoFundMe. The fundraising campaign was established to cover the victim's funeral expenses.

In just three days, those costs had been covered, according to a post on the fundraising site. Donations to the fund will be accepted through Thursday.

"We would like to continue to support the Mom and help offset any other expenses," a post on the site reads.
