Mystery Couple's Engagement Begins With Public Proposal

Chalk drawings led an apparent bride-to-be through a Buffalo Grove neighborhood.

A creative, public marriage proposal appeared to have a favorable response this week in Buffalo Grove.

A series of chalk drawings, featuring books with pages bearing words such as “love,” “honor” and “cherish” led the intended audience — and other curious residents — from Bernard Drive to the back of the , where an elaborate mural depicting London scenes was drawn in colored chalk.

Within the mural was the proposal, a traditional, “Will you marry me?”

Below it, someone replied with a simple “Yes.”

Messages of congratulations from well-wishers, including “Mom,” “Dad” and “Grandma” also adorned the pavement.
