Unclaimed Property Event to be Held at Lake County Building Wednesday

Is the state holding any of your money or unclaimed property? Find out at the I-Cash event hosted by State Treasurer Dan Rutherford at the Lake County building in Waukegan Wednesday, Feb. 20.

Illinois State Treasurer Dan Rutherford is encouraging Lake County residents to attend his I-Cash event from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 20 at the Lake County building at 18 N. County St., in Waukegan. Come and find out if the state is holding any money or unclaimed property entitled to them. A reported 319,063 owners in Lake County have $87,270,495 in unclaimed property, according to the January list of unclaimed property holders. I-Cash staff will be on-hand from 1:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. to help reisdents find out if they have unclaimed property. Illinois State Treasurer Dan Rutherford encourages Chicago-area residents to stop by his I-Cash table at the Republic Bank I-CASH event on Wednesday, Jan. 16. The event is being held at the Republic Bank, 6501 S. Pulaski Road, Chicago. Staff will be available 10 a.m. to noon to help anyone wishing to determine if the state is holding any money or unclaimed property entitled to them. In fact, 2,455060 owners in Cook County have $1,021,875,613 in unclaimed property. Unclaimed Property Auction Underway

Bids will be accepted online through Dec. 11.

The Illinois treasurer’s online unclaimed property auction began Dec. 5 and runs through 6 p.m. Dec. 11. “We are auctioning off 15,256 pieces of unclaimed property in the Illinois treasurer’s online unclaimed property auction because the rightful owners have not come forward to claim the items in more than five years,” State Treasurer Dan Rutherford said in a prepared statement. “We have a wide variety of interesting items to sell in this auction. You’ll find anything from coins and antique jewelry to old baseball cards—there’s something that appeals to everyone.” All items for sale have been appraised by an outside vendor.
