Illinois State Treasurer Dan Rutherford is encouraging Lake County residents to attend his I-Cash event from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 20 at the Lake County building at 18 N. County St., in Waukegan. Come and find out if the state is holding any money or unclaimed property entitled to them. A reported 319,063 owners in Lake County have $87,270,495 in unclaimed property, according to the January list of unclaimed property holders. I-Cash staff will be on-hand from 1:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. to help reisdents find out if they have unclaimed property. The event is being held at the Republic Bank, 6501 S. Pulaski Road, Chicago. The Illinois treasurer’s online unclaimed property auction began Dec. 5 and runs through 6 p.m. Dec. 11. “We are auctioning off 15,256 pieces of unclaimed property in the Illinois treasurer’s online unclaimed property auction because the rightful owners have not come forward to claim the items in more than five years,” State Treasurer Dan Rutherford said in a prepared statement. “We have a wide variety of interesting items to sell in this auction. You’ll find anything from coins and antique jewelry to old baseball cards—there’s something that appeals to everyone.” All items for sale have been appraised by an outside vendor.
