COMPLAINT A resident of the 1200 block of Brandywyn Lane reported that a white man, about 25 years old and 6 feet tall, came to the door to solicit for AT&T at 7:24 p.m. Jan. 24. The solicitor asked the residents several questions and left, only to return later in the evening and ask the same questions. Officers checked the area but the solicitor left prior to their arrival. PROPERTY DAMAGE Someone threw a landscape brick at the glass panel next to the main entrance door between 7:30 p.m. Jan. 23 and 8 a.m. Jan. 24 on the 1000 block of Corporate Grove Drive. A customer at Buffalo Grove's Jewel sparked a call to police after he tried to purchase more Twinkies than the store allowed.
A Buffalo Grove Jewel customer intent on stocking up on Twinkies Tuesday was upset to learn that the store had set a purchase limit for Hostess treats. A Buffalo Grove police report states that a man “was making a disturbance” in the grocery store at 9:10 p.m. Dec. 11 because an official would not allow him to buy a large quantity of Twinkies. The store had set a limit of 10 Twinkies per person. Jewel announced Monday on its Facebook page that its stores were about to receive “what may be the FINAL shipment of Twinkies in the country.” The Hostess company is being liquidated and the future of its popular treats is uncertain. IDENTITY THEFTS A resident reported Nov. 6 that he received a call from a cable provider and was told that he has an outstanding bill for $400. The resident advised the provider that he does not have service with them. It was determined that the service is to an address in Chicago and that someone there used the resident’s identification. A resident received a call from a retailer in Cicero Oct. 27 who asked the resident if he was making a $1,500 purchase using a credit card. The resident advised the retailer that he was at home and did not authorize any purchase. The retailer advised that the transaction will be canceled and the resident will receive a new credit card. ANIMALS A citizen reported that he was jogging at 12:20 p.m. July 18 on the 1000 block of Knollwood Drive, a yellow Lab broke free from its leash and chased him. The dog jumped and scratched the victim’s back, leaving four deep scratches. The dog’s owner was told that the dog needed to be seen by a vet in 24 hours and again in 10 days. A resident reported that while walking his dog at 2:45 p.m. July 19 on the 400 block of Gregg Lane, another dog jumped a fence and ran after them. The owner called the dog and it returned to its house. An officer spoke with the owner who stated that the boxer gets excited when people and dogs walk by and wants to say hi to them. DISPUTE The owner of a business on the 300 block of Half Day Road reported April 20 that when he told a customer that his account number would not be accepted, the customer began to yell. Another customer stated that the offending customer was acting belligerently, taunting and calling the owner names. ALARM A resident stated that when she arrived at home at 7:30 p.m. April 19, her alarm panel indicated motion in the basement. ALARM Officers responded to an active alarm at 12:50 a.m. April 15 a business on the 1000 block of Corporate Grove Drive. The building was checked and everything was in order.
