Haley Reinhart advanced to the final five on American Idol Thursday while Casey Abrams was eliminated.
Wheeling native and Harper College student Haley Reinhart didn't have to wait long to find out her fate on American Idol Thursday. Reinhart was the first contestant to learn that she was safe and would be advancing to the final five. Reinhart had been among the bottom three in terms of votes the previous week and she has flirted with elimination four times this season. Not as fortunate was Casey Abrams, who was eliminated this week. Abrams previously received the fewest votes in the competition but was "saved" by the judges. There were no more saves Thursday. Idol presented the results in "random" order, so it is unknown who finished in the bottom three unlike most weeks. Although Jacob Lusk and Scott McCreery were the final two …

Wheeling resident Haley Reinhart will move on to next week's competition.
American Idol voters pushed Wheeling resident Haley Reinhart through to the next round this week. Reinhart was, for the fourth time this season, among the bottom three vote recipients following her performance Wednesday night of Adele’s “Rolling in the Deep.” But it was Stefano Langone who was eliminated this week, leaving the 20-year-old Reinhart among the show’s final six contestants. Judge Randy Jackson praised her song choice Wednesday night, saying, “I think that you chose a perfect direction for you. I think Adele is an amazing artist, I think she is an amazing singer, and I think you have that amazing thing as a singer in you as well.” Steven Tyler and Jennifer Lopez also offered positive feedback. “You brought a little bit of Haley…

The Wheeling High School grad and Harper College student was named among American Idol's eight finalists.
Haley Reinhart glided Thursday night to the next round on American Idol, where she was named among the season’s eight final contestants. Reinhart, a graduate of Wheeling High School who went on to attend Harper College, sang Janis Joplin’s “Piece of My Heart” Wednesday night, when the contestants performed songs from the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. She said she chose the song because American Idol’s judges have compared her voice to Joplin’s. Her choice paid off with support from Idol voters and rave reviews from the three judges. “That’s the Haley that we love,” Randy Jackson said. “You’re showing everybody that you’re a contender,” Jennifer Lopez told Reinhart. “Haley, I couldn’t find nothing wrong with that,” Steven Tyler said, adding …

Wheeling native and Harper College student Haley Reinhart survived another round on American Idol Thursday.
Wheeling native and Harper College student Haley Reinhart survived another round of American Idol Thursday as two of the 11 finalists were eliminated. Reinhart found out her fate roughly halfway through the hour long program after performing Katy Perry's "Teenage Dream" with fellow contestants Pia Toscano and Thia Megia. Megia was not as fortunate. She was eliminated along with Naima Adedapo. The double elimination was necessary after the American Idol judges saved contestant Casey Abrams from elimination the last week. Reinhart's success was not surprising. She performed last on Wednesday, so her performance was fresh in the public's mind when voting began. And her rendition of Elton John's "Bennie & the Jets" was well-received with judge…

By the way, my comment was for Haley. Casey had it in the bag - I and my girl tried to vote for him numerous times via phone and text and we couldn't get through and the texts didn't give us any confirmation. Seems like a LOT of folks got the same outcome when they tried to vote for him. Then he went home next night... coincidence?   more ›
