It's a Rosy Union for Sunset Foods and Angelo Florist

Sunset Foods has acquired the upscale Angelo Florist of Lake Forest as its new floral department designer and provider.

Loyal customers need not worry, Lake Forest's Angelo Florist is still blooming—only the "arrangement" has changed. On Friday, Sunset Foods, which operates stores in Lake Forest, Highland Park, Libertyville, Long Grove and Northbrook, announced its acquisition of Angelo Florist. The newly-named Sunset Floral Designs: Inspired by Nature, Designed by Angelo's, is located next-door to Sunset Foods' Lake Forest location on Waukegan Road, at the site of the former "Romancing the Home." Here, and in the floral departments at all five Sunset Foods, customers can find the same upscale, quality arrangements by Angelo's they've enjoyed for more than 20 years. Buffalo Grove area schools stand to benefit when shoppers bring reusable bags to Sunset Foods in Long Grove. Through the store’s new Nickels for Nature program, the grocery store will donate 5 cents for each shopping bag their customers provide. The money will be shared among schools in District 96, District 102 and District 103.  “Sunset has been offering reusable bags for at least 20 years,” said John Cortesi, president and CEO of Sunset Foods. “It reminds people, especially children, about the importance of recycling which benefits the entire community.”  “Our focus the first year we opened our Long Grove store was to partner with the high schools. Much-anticipated grocery store opened for business in Long Grove this week.

When Sunset Foods opened its doors to the public on Wednesday, many Buffalo Grove residents were there, eager to check out the long-awaited Long Grove store. Aliza Pestine, a Buffalo Grove mother of three, said she was excited about the store's grand opening. “I've heard they have good produce and pre-packaged meals,” she said. “I have several picky eaters and Sunset offers more variety than other area grocers.” Linda Iser, who lived in Buffalo Grove for 22 years before moving to Long Grove, said she's heard of Sunset Foods' good service. “It’s close to home, they have great quality products, and I am able to find many unusual items at Sunset versus other local stores," she said. “Sunset is also able to fill my kosher needs for the Jewish …

Sunset is Finally Set in Long Grove!

I got a firsthand look at the newest Sunset grocery store in Long Grove.

After years of talks, speculation and raised hopes, the new Long Grove Sunset grocery store is open! Last night I was honored to attend the VIP ‘Store Inspection’ and Grand Opening Celebration. Fresh food samples lined the main aisles, waiters served specialty foods on trays, the cheese monger was presenting fabulous cheese samples and the bakers had amazing sweets displayed for tasting. Even better, the deli counter with its scrumptious salads and prepared foods had free samplings. Let’s just say that my dinner was served with wine tastings, too! The place was packed full of people who couldn’t wait to get a taste of the new store. Buffalo Grove resident Susie Feldman and her daughter Sami stopped by when they saw the cars in parking lot…

We've waited and waited. We're sick and tired of driving to Highland Park, Libertyville or Lake Forest. We're anxiously anticipating the doors to finally open. Friends of Buffalo Grove, I'm here to announce that the Sunset Foods planned to open in January of 2011 is going to be worth the wait! Situated at the corner of Route 83 and Aptakisic Road in Long Grove, this Sunset will be one gem of a store. According to T. J. Tazioli , Sunset's vice president of marketing, they are keeping everything we love about Sunset plus many new and exciting features. So let's get right to it. First there will be an Asian cooking station with food made to order as well as sushi prepared on site. There will be a shrimp bar, hot soup bar, olive bar, trail mix…
