Buffalo Grove Beats Stevenson in Volleyball Regional Finals

The Bison will now compete in the Antioch Sectional semi-finals.

  The Buffalo Grove Boys Volleyball team defeated Stevenson Wednesday night in the Antioch Sectional Regional Finals, according to the Illinois High School Association website. The Bison beat the top seeded Stevenson team by a score of 25-19, 25-23, and will now head to the sectional semi-finals to take on Vernon Hills on Friday, the Daily Herald reports. Friday’s game will take place at Antioch High School at 6:30 p.m. The winner of the game will play in the sectional championship on Tuesday, May 28.

Stevenson Falls to Fenwick in State Water Polo Match

The team lost by a score of 10-4.

  Stevenson High School fell to Fenwick in the state water polo championships this weekend.  The team lost by a score of 10-4 to the powerful Fenwick team, who has won the state title in water polo nine times in the last 10 years, the Stevenson Daily Digest reports.  This was the second time Stevenson made it to the state finals in the sport, also coming in second in 2004, the Sun Times reports. Buffalo Grove Athlete Finishes Strong at Track Finals

Kaitlyn Ko of Buffalo Grove High School took 15th place in the 3,200-Meter Run.

  Buffalo Grove High School’s Kaitlyn Ko had a strong showing at the Girls Track & Field state finals this weekend, according to the Illinois High School Association’s website. Ko took 15th place in the 3,200-Meter Run with a time of 11:02.77. The winner in the event was Madeline Perez of Glenbard West with a time of 10:22.29. Stevenson High School’s Shannon Legge also qualified for the state meet in the shot put event, but did not place in the finals.

Athletes Advance to State Track & Field Finals

The girls state finals take place this weekend in Charleston.

  Two Buffalo Grove-area students will participate in the Girls Track & Field state finals this weekend at O’Brien Stadium at Eastern Illinois in Charleston. Shannon Legge of Stevenson High School qualified for the finals in the shot put, and Kaitlyn Ko of Buffalo Grove qualified in the 3,200 meter run. Stevenson, BGHS Gymnasts Place at State Meet

Stevenson High School placed fourth, while Buffalo Grove High School came in eighth place at the IHSA state meet.

  Stevenson and Buffalo Grove High School Boys’ Gymnastics teams both placed at the state meet this weekend. Buffalo Grove Softball Shoots for Conference Title

The team is doing well this season and is hoping to win the Mid-Suburban East conference, the Daily Herald reports.

  The Buffalo Grove High School softball team is aiming to win the Mid-Suburban East conference this year, the Daily Herald reports. The team beat Hoffman Estates Wednesday, making their record 6-3. They are currently ahead of Elk Grove in the rankings, who have won the conference for the past five eyars, the newspaper reports. Coach Jamie Paul told the Herald the team is feeling great about their chances of winning but “we have to take things one game at a time.”

Stevenson Softball Star Makes School History

Abby O'Connor became the first player to ever hit a home run over the fence at the school.

  Stevenson High School’s Abby O’Connor made school history last weekend. The softball star became the first Stevenson player to ever hit a home run over the fence during a game against Evanston on Saturday. The Stevenson High School softball field fence is one of the longest in Illinois, measuring 255 feet in center field. High school softball fences are typically 180 feet to 200 feet from home plate. Barrington High School’s Ashley Berggren and Zion-Benton’s Jennifer Lotz are the only other players to hit a home run over the fence at Stevenson, the Daily Herald reports.

Stevenson Boys Volleyball Team Wins Lake Co. Tournament

The team beat Deefield in the championship game, the Daily Herald reports.

  The Stevenson Boys Volleyball team came out on top in the Lake County Invitational Tournament this weekend, the Daily Herald reports. The team beat Deerfield 25-19, 25-20 in the championship game. It’s been three years since Stevenson has won the tournament. Barrington came in third place and Vernon Hills finished fourth, the newspaper reports.

101 Buffalo Grove Residents Participate in Shamrock Shuffle

The Bank of America Shamrock Shuffle took place on April 7 in Chicago.

  Congratulations to the 101 Buffalo Grove residents who participated in the Bank of America Shamrock Shuffle 8k race in Chicago on April 7. Stevenson Boys Basketball Team to Play in State Semi-Finals

The team beat Rockford Boylan in the IHSA Class 4A supersectional on Tuesday.

  The Stevenson High School boys basketball team continues to climb the ladder in the IHSA Class 4A tournament. The team defeated Rockford Boylan Tuesday in the supersectional game in Dekalb by a score of 73-67. Stevenson now advances to the state semi-finals on Friday where they will take on Edwardsville High School. The winner of the game will play for the state championship on Saturday, March 16.
