We are honored and privileged to be able to send our children to School District 96. Our School Board endlessly volunteers their time to ensure that all children achieve maximum success every day. The extraordinary achievements and reputation of our District are due in no small part to the passions, collaborations and inspirations of current Board members such as Jim Strezewski, Bob Gauthier, Renee Klass & Marc Tepper. It is not a coincidence that District 96 is visited by hundreds of educators from around the nation each year to see first hand our model of how to create 21st century learners who have the skills necessary for this changing world. I agree. There are five running for four spots. I believe Greg Smith is the non incumbent so one of them can be removed at least. Among all the other exorbitant costs, $392 for 56 sodas!?! This is $168 for a case of soda. I can usually find a case for sale about $6. Snow Forecast Cancels School for March 5

All Buffalo Grove-area schools have canceled classes for Tuesday.

Buffalo Grove area schools have canceled Tuesday’s classes in anticipation of heavy snow.  As of Monday night, before any snow had fallen, school had been canceled in District 21, District 96, District 102, District 103, St. Mary School, District 214, and Stevenson High School, according to their websites. Lake and Cook counties are under a winter storm warning, with 7-10 inches of snow possible. Related: Northern Illinois Under Winter Storm Warning for Tuesday In District 96, all after-school and evening activities have also been canceled for Tuesday, as well as before- and after-school care, according to an email from Superintendent Julie Schmidt. Free Program on Parenting Your Plugged-in Teen

Parents invited to attend March 11 program in Buffalo Grove.

Do you wonder what teens are really doing with the tablets and smartphones that seem surgically attached?  The Community Parent Network invites all interested parents to hear Dr. Devorah Heitner, Lake Forest College professor of media studies, discuss the writing and research on teens' use of technology. This free program for parents, which will begin at 7 p.m. March 11 at Twin Groves Middle School, will focus on topics relevant to youths 12 and up.
