Watch District 102 Students' Videos on the Big Screen

Public service announcements filmed by elementary and middle school students will be aired Saturday at the Buffalo Grove Theater.

Videos created by School District 102 students will be shown on the big screen this week. More than 30 public service announcements promoting safe and healthy choices will be aired at a public screening from 10 a.m. to noon May 18 at Buffalo Grove Theater. The PSAs were created by fourth- through eighth-graders in conjunction with the district's BASIC program, which stands for Bullying, Alcohol and Drugs, Social Networking, Internet Safety and/or Cell Phone and Texting. Refreshments will be available for purchase at the event. Viewers will use their cell phones to vote for their favorite PSA. The PSA receiving the most votes will be awarded the "People's Choice Award" for 2013. The award winner will be announced along with the three other …

Snow Forecast Cancels School for March 5

All Buffalo Grove-area schools have canceled classes for Tuesday.

Buffalo Grove area schools have canceled Tuesday’s classes in anticipation of heavy snow.  As of Monday night, before any snow had fallen, school had been canceled in District 21, District 96, District 102, District 103, St. Mary School, District 214, and Stevenson High School, according to their websites. Lake and Cook counties are under a winter storm warning, with 7-10 inches of snow possible. Buffalo Grove Districts Cancel After-School Activities

Thursday's weather and worsening road conditions has led to the cancellation of after-school programs in some districts, while others will continue their scheduled activities.

Weather conditions this afternoon (Feb. 7) have caused a number of area schools to cancel their after-school activities. In School District 96, students will be dismissed at the end of the school day. Buses will run on regular schedules, according to an email from the district. The same is true in District 102. "Because there are no late buses, students must be picked up by a parent or guardian or go home on the regular bus," the district's website states. All activities have also been canceled in School District 21, a staff member confirmed to Patch. At Stevenson High School, the girls gymnastics sectional and incoming freshmen course selection will take place as scheduled. All other after-school activities have been canceled, and there …
