Hintz Road Construction to Last Through Summer

The road project affects Hintz Road from Arlington Heights Road east to Milwaukee Avenue and will include lane reductions and subsequent delays through September.

If you need to travel on Hintz Road between Arlington Heights Road and Milwaukee Avenue, you may want to find an alternate route through September.  That's because a road construction project is currently underway in the four-lane section of Hintz Road, from Arlington Heights Road east to Milwaukee Avenue. The work will cause rotating lane reductions and delays for drivers, according to Scott Shirley, director of public works for the Village of Arlington Heights. The Cook County Highway Department is the lead agency on the project, but is working with affected municipalities, including Arlington Heights, Buffalo Grove and Wheeling. The project will include grinding and patching of the concrete pavement, and during staging and the pouring …

Tollway Road Construction Scheduled for 2012

Here's a look at what's in store for the new year.

Roads are under construction by the Illinois Department of Transportation as well as the Lake and Cook county highway departments.

The Village Council should authorize its President to task the police chief to assign one officer to be present at each school affected by road construction. During the peak 20 - 25 minute time frame students arrive at each school in the morning and leave each school in the afternoon, a police officer could prevent and stop the egregious actions that "C-Dub" described on 3-24-2011 --- C-Dub wrote…   more ›

Hicks Road Sinkhole Could Take Another Month To Fix

The sinkhole that has caused lane closures on Hicks Road, just north of Dundee Road, still is several weeks from being repaired.

The damaged sewer line and sinkhole that has closed part of Hicks Road will likely not be fixed for three or four more weeks. Sergio Serafino, an engineer with the Metropolitan Water Reclamation District of Greater Chicago, said the damage to the sewer line was much worse than first thought. Workers lowered a video camera into the sewer line Friday and discovered that more extensive work will be needed to repair the line. The damaged sewer line created a sinkhole that extended under the southbound lanes of Hicks Road near Dundee Road. Hicks is down to one lane of two-way traffic in the area. The sinkhole formed after 5.5 inches of rain fell in about a three hour period July 23. Previously, Sanjay Patel, north plant manager for the water …

Another Arlington Heights Road Project About to Begin

As the Lake County Department of Transportation prepares for next week's construction project, Buffalo Grove police are warning drivers to find alternative routes.

Yet another construction project will begin next week on Arlington Heights Road. The Lake County Highway Department will start replacement of the bridge deck and beams on northbound Arlington Heights Road at Buffalo Creek, according to a press release from the Buffalo Grove Police Department, which is urging motorists to avoid the road by using alternate routes. The project will run about one-quarter mile north of Lake-Cook Road. Construction will begin with the closure of the northbound lanes, medians and turn lanes. All traffic will be shifted to the southbound lanes in the construction zone, which will be limited to one lane in each direction from Checker Road to Lake-Cook Road. "We have to take the top of the bridge off and put a new …

What alternate route do they suggest we take?! I have no choice but to use Arlington Heights Rd., and now they've penned in my entire neighborhood. They should have finished that bridge last summer when they were working on the North end of the road (which was already their second summer there). Not to mention that the illogical slalom-course that they've created by Dundee Rd. is an accident (or …   more ›
