ARRESTS Michael Krotman, 59, of the 600 block of Grove Drive, Buffalo Grove, was charged with retail theft. The incident occurred at 5:45 p.m. on Dec. 28 at Dominick’s, 770 South Buffalo Grove Road. Sean T. Bjornson, 48, of the 200 block of Hiawatha Drive, Buffalo Grove, was taken into custody on an arrest warrant for failure to appear. The incident occurred at 8:30 p.m. on Dec. 28. CRIMINAL DAMAGE TO VEHICLE A resident reported that someone unknown sprayed black spray paint on the rear license plate of his vehicle on Oak Creek Drive. It occurred between Dec. 24 and Dec. 27. POSSESSION OF MARIJUANA A 16-year-old juvenile from Buffalo Grove was charged with possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia. The juvenile was stopped at 11:40 p.m. on Dec. 26 on St. Mary’s Parkway at Navajo Trail. OUTSIDE DEPARTMENT ASSIST The Lake County Probation Department requested officers check an address for a male subject who should not be there. Officers found the subject in the basement of the house and he had been drinking and was seriously intoxicated. The incident occurred between Dec. 20 and Dec. 26 in the 1100 block of Highland Grove Drive. The paramedics transported the subject to the hospital and contacted Probation. BURGLARY The owner of a business on the 1400 block of North McHenry Road reported that when he entered the office at 10:30 a.m. Dec. 20, he found $20 bills on the floor. The owner then checked the safe and found that $350,000 in cash was missing. The owner suspects a former employee, who knows the code to the safe. DISORIENTED CITIZEN An officer responded to a report of a stolen cell phone and found a disoriented woman in the lobby at 11 a.m. Dec. 20 on Villa Verde Drive. The officer was able to contact a family member who responded and took the woman home. The family member stated that her mother-in-law will be moving to an assisted living facility. CIVIL MATTER A resident told police Dec. 19 that he has a contract with a handyman to do some repairs in his home. The resident paid money upfront, and was to pay additional money when the repairs were completed. Some, but not all of the repairs were done, and the handyman has not returned to complete the rest. The resident was advised that the handyman had been arrested for home repair fraud the previous week. PROPERTY DAMAGE A complainant reported that an unoccupied home that he owns on the 300 block of Hawthorne Road was damaged between Oct. 31 and Dec. 19 by someone who pushed in both garage doors. ANIMALS A resident of the 1400 block of Mill Creek Drive turned over to police a black and white cat that wandered into her garage at 8:10 p.m. Dec. 18. The cat had no collar or tags and did not have a microchip. The cat was taken to Kings Kennel. FOUND PROPERTY A Shell gas station clerk gave police three ID cards, each with a different owner, on Dec. 18. An officer was able to contact one owner who came to the police department to pick up his card. The officer was unable to obtain telephone numbers for the other owners and will send a notice in the mail. ATTEMPTED BURGLARY A complainant reported Dec. 17 that someone moved two Bobcat vehicles and cut the locking chains to equipment trailers on the 200 block of Cobbler Lane. There were also tool marks at the entry point of one trailer. FOUND PROPERTY A resident of the 2200 block of Avalon Drive told police that while cleaning out his garage on Dec. 17 he found a green Wildwood Diamondback bicycle.
