Buffalo Grove residents in search of a packzi fix don't have far to look. Deerfields Bakery is marking Paczki Day with 16 flavors of the popular pastry. Paczkis, to some, are a last hurrah of sorts on Fat Tuesday (also called Mardi Gras or Paczki Day), which falls the day before the start of the Lenten season. Ash Wednesday is a day of fasting for Catholics. However, sweets fans of all creeds can enjoy these pastries. At Deerfields Bakery, paczkis come filled with custard, an assortment of fruits and even cookies 'n cream, among others.
