Vernon Hills Resident Honored for Referee Work
Peter Stavropoulos has been named a 2012-13 IHSA Official of the Year.
Vernon Hills resident Peter Stavropoulos has been named a 2012-13 Official of the Year by the Illinois High School Association. Stavropoulos serves a girls soccer referee in the Mid-Suburban League, which includes Buffalo Grove and Wheeling high schools, as well as in the North Suburban League, which includes Stevenson and Vernon Hills high schools. Officials of the Year are first nominated by officials associations, and the winners are chosen by IHSA staff members’ votes. The organization looks for such qualities as character, referee skills and levels worked in the IHSA State Series. One winner is chosen for each sport.
